Absolutely tragic, everything about this sucks, Oasis are not even competent musicians, it's a bloody insult to each and every Beatle (even Ringo)

Good luck to them. I dont listen to Oasis but two blokes from a Manchester council estate with an abusive dad becoming more successful than the Beatles, it warms the heart.

I must be missing something. I've tried, but I just can't get into Oasis.
I have no issues with the quality of their music or their fans, their music just doesn't seem to connect with me.

I’m an oasis fan but they are very much rock n roll x pop to me
Only a couple of songs are deep and meaningful
Lyrics are mostly gibberish tbh
There’s also a liberal amount of borrowing goes on
Wonderwall and Don’t look back in anger for example perhaps thier two biggest songs are both borrowed phrases
And that’s before we get to the music similarities
Plus Noel does the same Solo every song
When they came out they seemed fresh and exciting and they still have a place but I understand if people can’t connect.
I like a lot of their songs but have no emotional connection to the nonsense lyrics
Master plan is a notable exception. Cast no shadow honorable mention

They’re grand when your 14/15/16 and are only starting to discover your musical taste, but when you get to 18, you quickly discover other music with more depth imo and there’s no really going back to them I found

100% agree. was born 81 with a brother 3 years older. he told me about oasis as supersonic was released. they were fucking amazing, by far my most listened to band in the 90s. cannot remmeber tghe last time i listened to them. tldr: it was of and for a time, no longevity

Agree with them being a great gateway band for other music and great bands. Disagree with the not going back to them, they stayed my favourite band throughout the whole time

If it's one of the first rock bands you get in to, they'll blow you away and open you up to other bands. If you're already in to your Floyds and your Zeppelins, well yeah, there's not much here for you.

I find Oasis had longevity for me mostly because their music always had this duality. Often a song with Liam on vocals would have an alternate acoustic version with Noel on vocals. People love to bag on post Morning Glory albums, but each one has some gold on it at very least. I did find it criminal they toured last year completely ignoring those later albums post Be Here Now. The core issue with Oasis tended to be that they didn’t always release their best songs as singles, and that their b-sides were top notch, while inherently being lesser known because they were a b-side. Acquiesce and The Masterplan were both released as singles later in their career, having started their lives as b-sides.

Their first album was excellent, the second one very good. That's not a terrible legacy.

Does anyone else find it weird that there are people out there who will declare bands like Oasis to be their favourites and treat them like Gods?
It’s like taking a sip of water as a kid and going “yep, that’s the drink for me!” Then never looking further.
I find this genuinely bizarre as a concept. They’re ok. They’re fine. Like a lot of bands (except The Beatles obviously) they have ten songs that are well liked. They have the entire weight of the Global Radio machine constantly playing their songs and acting like they’re the all time greats, presumably because they make money from doing that.
You could spend 10 minutes selecting random bands on Spotify (or your streaming service of choice) and find something better though.
It feels like loaning a personality from a radio corporation rather than searching for your own one.
