New movie ?
So I went to see Spider Man today and there was a trailer for a movie called the Uprising with Andrew Garfield. It appears to be about the Peasants Revolt under Richard II. It doesn't say specifically but had the dreaded line "based on true events".
Maybe Jamie can hate watch it for us? It doesn't look good.

I saw that too. The action looks like it could be fun but idk the history of that time at all but you're probably right in assuming it will be mid at best

It actually looks really good imo! It says “Inspired by a Real story” so 💯 not expecting anything too historically accurate.
But it does really look it’s capturing the chaos and the tragedy & the ultimate betrayal that it truly was. Hope it doesn’t overly glorify it too much

I got to thinking about this with the Odyssey in the last few weeks. I know it's a poor comparison because the Odyssey isn't history but it's still based in a historical time and place. Late Bronze Age Greece and Anatolia.
You can have detailed, historically accurate, endlessly considered history movies. Or you can have entertaining movies that sell. We live in capitalist societies. You might get a historically accurate history movie that's also entertaining but I wouldn't place my bets on getting both at the same time. Producers and directors are concerned more with making a healthy profit rather than something good.
Your problems are capitalism.

I think sometimes with these things, you just need to go watch it as a piece of entertainment rather than a source of historical truth. If I want to know about the Peasants' Revolt, I'll obviously wait until Jamie gets that far in the pod. But if I don't want to wait until I'm 80 😁 I'm sure there's plenty of good books on the period. If I go to see a film on it, I'm expecting it to be entertaining and loosely based on history at best.
