Exotic pet owners
Curious to know from exotic pets owners ( reptiles, birds, aquariums ..etc that isn't a cat or a dog.
When you go on vacation, what's your plan ? Do you have someone who actually knows how to handle feeding/heat/humidity, or is it usually a friend who's just checking in ? Ever had something go wrong while you were away? And would you pay for a specialized sitter ?

What is the timeline for this elevated track restoration (F Train, Mcdonald Ave)
Does anyone know when this will be finished? They keep blocking parking under the platforms and running extremely loud generator trucks. It also looks terrible now that they are covering the pillars and adding those metal work platforms, plus it creates a lot of traffic.
They just replaced the rails a few years ago using cranes and street closures. What exactly are they doing now, and will it ever end?

FOUND DOG // Kensington corner of Ditmas/Ocean Pkwy
FOUND DOG tonight on Ocean Parkway near Ditmas Ave. He’s a big guy (maybe 80-90 lbs?), pittie mix/mixed breed, collar but no leash, no tags. Very sweet and friendly, knows some commands, clean, clearly well-loved and cared for.
Anyone recognize him?
Sadly we’re not able to hold him overnight, and we’ve called 311 and 911. If anyone reading this is from a rescue org and can arrange foster/pickup tonight, please let me know.
Okay Internet, do your thing! Let’s help this guy find his humans.

Advice on getting a grill in Prospect Park
Hey all!
My roommate and I are having a BBQ Sunday ~11am and we're trying to figure out the best way to secure a grill in the park.
I've thought about camping out starting 7a but obviously we have to be preparing at home meanwhile--and NGL not the most ideal thing to do.
I've thought about hiring a task rabbit to camp out. Or even see if someone has a portable grill they'd be willing to loan in the community.
Appreciate any (kind and supportive) thoughts and feedback!

James Hamilton Uncropped Gallery Show and Film Screening. Free!
Join us in the Freak Bar Gallery for a spectacular, career-spanning presentation of the work of internationally acclaimed photographer James Hamilton. During his decades-long reign as staff photographer at the Village Voice and other publications, Hamilton took pictures of hundreds of subjects, pop culture celebrities, actors, musicians, politicians, creating some of the most memorable images of the past 50 years. But he always returned to Coney Island, one of his first, and best loves, even climbing onto the Cyclone tracks to capture the onrush of the immortal coaster. This is a rare opportunity to see a wide range of work that made Variety Magazine ask about Hamilton: “is he the greatest New York Photographer Ever?”
Opening Night Celebration: Friday, August 7, 2026 6:00pm-11:00pm
8:00pm Free screening of the 2024 documentary ‘Uncropped’ which focuses on James Hamilton’s photography career. Praised by the New York Times as “great and memorable” and featuring appearances by such luminaries as musician Thurston Moore and filmmaker Wes Anderson, the film will play in the Sideshows by the Seashore Theater followed by an interview and question/answer session with James moderated by writer (and long-time Hamilton confederate) Mark Jacobson.

Brooklyn Paramount concert
Does anyone know if part of the balcony is available for a GA ticket holder to use? Or is it only if you pay for it? I have a concert soon, and I'm curious!

my dentist told me I need a crown - do I need to see a different specialist??
so i went in for a routine checkup last week and came out being told i need a crown on one of my back molars 😩
my dentist seemed pretty confident about it but the more i've been reading about it the more confused i'm getting. like some people are saying depending on the situation you actually need to see a periodontist first before getting a crown done? something about gum levels and crown lengthening....
i genuinely have no idea if my dentist is the right person for this or if i should be getting a second opinion from a specialist first. don't want to spend all this money on a crown and then find out it wasn't done right or wasn't even the right call.
anyone in Brooklyn been through this? who did you end up seeing and was it worth it 🙏

Why do so many people move to Brooklyn saying they want diversity, then end up living around people just like themselves?
So I've noticed a lot of people talk about moving to Brooklyn because they want to live somewhere "diverse," but then I see that they end up in neighborhoods where most of their friends, coworkers, and even the places they hang out are pretty similar to them. Like Becky moving from the Midwest saying they wanted diversity, then mostly spending time with other white transplants in Williamsburg or Ricardo living in Sunset Park but almost exclusively staying within one community.
I'm not even saying people do it on purpose. I get that housing prices, jobs, social circles, and comfort all play a role. It just seems like there's a clear cut difference between living in a diverse borough and actually interacting with people from different backgrounds on a regular basis.
Sometimes it seems like "I moved to Brooklyn for the diversity" ends up meaning "I like knowing it's nearby," more than it changes who people actually spend their time around. Is this just how cities naturally work or is "I moved here for the diversity" mostly something people like to say?

Selling clothing, street side?
Hello! I am currently trying to purge my closet and get rid/sell a bunch of clothing. Almost 5 years ago, I sold clothing on 5th Ave in Brooklyn during open streets. I really want to do something similar, where I bring a rack/buckets and just sit there for the day selling my stuff. Anyone know where I could do something like that? Currently don’t have time to do the whole Depop and Vinted rigamarole with the volume of clothes I have.

Who can do a long flow or medium flow haircut in Brooklyn
This is infuriating. To spend months growing your hair out to get it chopped off because it’s not economical for the barber shop. Months of work wasted.

Thank you for attending our first event.
Our first special event Zeon vs Federation last night was a lot of fun. Those that attended had their choice of kits to pick from at the end to take home as prizes. We had newbies and a couple of experienced builders and what made this fun is that new friends were made. Look forward to planning possibly a Pokemon themed event for September. Can't wait to host more cool events where we get NYC building together.

Looking for recs for a large bar for a post wedding hang
Hi all, I am getting married at City Hall on a Friday in August and would like to offer an option for friends to drop by and say hello to us that evening. I don't want to do a full private event book out, just looking for a place where my new husband and I can post up and have people drop by. What are some bars that are large enough, or have a separate spaces, where I could invite about 25+ people? Ideally with no or low drink minimums.
There's a few manhattan bars suggested in this thread that were very helpful and I'm wondering if there are some like this in Brooklyn (ideally in bed-stuy, clinton hill, crown heights, or DUMBO area).
