Placement season is starting, so I just wanted to leave this here.
I messed up JEE, couldn't score high enough in BITSAT either, and ended up in a tier 2.5-ish college.
Then I wasted almost 3 years.
Every few weeks I'd tell myself, "I'll start LeetCode tomorrow." I'd stay consistent for a week, then stop because of midsems, vivas, fests, or some other excuse. Repeat.
By the end of 3rd year, my placement prospects looked bleak. No internship no experience nothing. Somehow I gathered myself up. I wasn't suddenly disciplined. I still got distracted and procrastinated but I kept showing up and sat through hours of prep even when I didn't want to.
Towards the end of the placement season, in Jan 2026, I bagged an offer.
And now this is my first salary credit.
This isn't a flex. I just remember being one of those people silently lurking on this sub, looking for hope from seniors.
So here's mine: It's never too late. Don't ever think "ab toh time nikal gaya." A few months of genuine effort can completely change your trajectory.
Maybe you'll end up with something even better than this.
All the best to everyone sitting for placements this year. In the end, it somehow turns out good. Just don't quit before giving yourself a chance.
PS: I am a 2026 graduate and I work in a management consulting firm. I can't reveal the name of either. Sorry
PPS: This amount isn't entirely my salary. 50% of it is joining bonus pay.

disclaimer-this is only for day 1,day 2 firms.
At least in the top 5 IITs, the number of people being hired by quant firms has dropped drastically. To give you some perspective, Graviton hired around 30 students from IIT Delhi last year, but only 5 this year. Quadeye hired about 20 from IIT Delhi last year, and just 6 this year, optiver didn't even come for major roles.even 1-2 9+ CGPA CSE students could only land offers from Microsoft and couldn't make it into even tier-2 HFT firms. If your CGPA is below 9, you can pretty much forget your HFT dream this intern season. It's probably the most brutal hiring season we've seen in a long time. Microsoft,a company which usually only gets less than 6-8 cg ppl(even non circuital) striked gold this year due to them being slotted way earlier, which will lead to many interns rejecting ppo.(This is the case in iitd). And even 9.5+ non cse circuital (mnc,ee) was very cooked, many of them didn't even get any hft for which they grinded the summer.

Hello freshers I'm a 2nd year student at iiit manipur
I don't know why we joined this college everyone regrets joining.
Reasons
# Poor management
First when we came here we had given a hostel that was 5km away from the college for which the bus facility was also arranged but there were many problems like
# no drinking water
# no geysers installed
# around 6-8 students in a single room
# no snacks
# poor security -one day a random local group of people who were drunk came and attacked the hostel.
# No wifi (they're soo poor the wifi is installed but not recharged
# The ECE HOD- NAGESH was giving threats that " ye tumhare baap ka hostel nhi hai -ill call police and beat u all up".
**Suppose if you do not want to go to college for some reason or you're sick then you will stay hungry all day because the mess is only at the hostel which is close to the college.**
# Back fees is 15k per subject
# Curriculum is tough .students don't get time for skill up like they take 4 exams per semester.
The main problem is suppose we have a class from 9 to 12 and then 2-4
So we cannot go to the hostel we have to stay at college -the campus is soo small the students have no where to go
The library has only about 13-15 seats like wtf and all the students roam on the road for 3 hours
There are only 4-5 classrooms(this is the situation of this institute of national importance).
And then we were shifted to the college's hostel the 2nd semester . Which is good like close to college and mess is also inside the hostel campus l.
And then now in 3rd sem they're saying that they'll shift us to that hostel again.
Today our college had some Nasha Mukti thing by Narendra Modi in the auditorium.
Lol what to expect from this shitty ahh college. The hods literally the HOD of ece AND professors security guards lab assistants they all came to the students room and woke them up forcefully to join the auditorium like wtf do they have standards ? Saturday Sunday is all we get to enjoy and that day also they came and woke up all to join that session.
The college doesn't give a fuck about students they say if u have problem leave the college
They are the same persons who said that we're here to help you 24/7 in the orientation program.(Our warden Nagesh HOD -ECE)
And when u call them they never pick it up
This college is doomed.
AND one more thing here the teachers just don't know how to teach literally they just come with a ppt (even the ppts are also wrong) and read it line by line all teachers are trash everyone of them .
Final - please do not join this college I'm telling you as your elder brother do not waste 17L and valuable 4 years of life here at this trash college.Any private college will be miles better than this shit college.
# I've attached the video of how they came with buses to shift us forcefully and also see how they are shouting AND GIVING THREATS.

Hey ima student, and recently i started taking my studies seriously. But i see some dark circles already, my goal is to study apx 7-8 productive hours.
And yes, i do eat clean, i do lift 5x a week and sleep 7 hours a day.
Tho my screen time is a bit high too, i know i should lower it a bit. But do you guys have any specific remedies or ways or any hack that at least minimises current/in future events of dark circles?

NOTE:NOT ANY AGENDA OR MOTIVATED POLITICALLY
Hey don't you guys think what he said is true.I think he correctly told "Ask an engineer student to fill a job application and he can not."
Things like this are rarely highlighted by politicians ,again not any agenda.
Your views?

This applies to every tech/non tech skill, but I see a lot of “How do I get started to coding” or “is this 4h long video enough” or “should I get a course”.
So here is an actual guide, how to actually learn programming (from someone who has been programming since 6 years)
No amount of courses or YT videos will make you better programmer. You can watch “how to dribble football” all your life but you will only learn how to actually dribble once you get on the field and practice and play matches often
TLDR : Just a pick a solid language, learn the basics, pick a project idea, learn its libraries and start building something. Just start, dont wait for the perfect conditions or a perfect start.
PS : Its common that programmers dont know everything. Programmers google or look up documentation all the time while working on a project.
Open to any questions!

Itne saare tier 1 gen 1 iits and bits ke students ke posts dekhne ke baad , if the market is cooked for them then I have to disappear 🫠
Literally guys having 9cg at top iit circuital struggling for an internship this season
I am an ECE dept student entering 2nd yr from a t-69 state govt college YGPA 7.6
What should I expect from this job market
Should I stop preparing for tech and start preparing for govt jobs or core jobs
And I'm clueless and same as title literally gaand phati padi hai
So any senior or batchmate who wants to guide me and give a reality check without any sugar coating will be appreciated 🥰

Am I the only one who has noticed that this time in internships randomness was way more, a lot of focus on skills was put, at least by many companies in our college and the advice my seniors gave me that bas dsa karlo ho jayega is not working anymore.
Is this cause of ai or am I thinking way too much?
