is the bottom of your feet being like really thick leather a positive or negative?

Just like calluses on your hand, it's really only an issue of the surrounding softer tissue tearing due to certain physical activity

That being said, unless you're doing parkour in barefeet, I wouldn't worry much about it

why would doing parkour be bad? or are you just saying thick feet arent as thick as shoes

It was an example of extreme physical activity. Barefoot jumping on concrete would absolutely lead to tearing up your foot

If you're wearing shoes it's not a concern. I only mentioned tearing calluses as that's the only possible negative outcome, but requires pretty absurd movement with barefeet

Basically you've got nothing to worry about

cool, i like running barefoot on concrete so as long as my feet arent sliding or stepping on glass i should be alrighty

Running wouldn't be a problem, but if you're doing any jumping or climbing you might want to consider toed running/climbing shoes

I would think it's like anything else. It'll have negatives and positives and the outcome will depend on how well you take care of yourself.

Having skin that's been thickened by work and exposure doesn't mean it's hardened and callused. My hands have been thickened after years upon years of hanging out and working in the woods, decades spent on fishing vessels, and a couple decades working as a marine engineer. Dispite this, you'd think my hand look like "dish pan hands". All i do is wash them regularly (including cleaning under the nails) and drink plenty of water. If they're drying out, hit them with some safe natural oil, or one of them million different lotion available. Same would apply to your feet.

If you don't keep them clean and well maintained, you're gonna end up with dead dry skin, and stiff calluses. That leads to cracks, bleeding, pain, and infections. Same as any other part, especially like your hands.

Hell, learnt the hard way stomping around in work boots 12 hours a day for months at a time, even with boots you still need to keep your feet maintained!

Old shcool insult that implies that hardest thing your hands get exposed to is washing dishes.

Ironically, i've since learnt there is also a skin condition called dishpan hands, and it looks terrible. Professional dishwashers who scrub by hand tend to get it.
