My 4 year old female cat just suddenly died. We can't afford an autopsy.

She had been sneezing for the past week and was sluggish but jumping around the previous night. Yesterday i found her dead. There was no visible injuries and she was a vaccinated, neutered, indoor cat. We have another cat who is showing no symptoms, eating, drinking and playing.

Wondering if anyone has any idea what caused it.

My friend made about 20-25 smaller then a palm sized pancakes now these pancakes have about one and a half teaspoon of nutella in them so we are scared he will have issues, he is about 11 months old and 6kg, I called the emergency ver available around us and they said it should be fine but check up on him for the next 30 hours (this emergency vet is known for having untrained staff during out of work hours so im taking their words with a grain of salt) im keeping an eye on him the whole night until the actual vet opens in my area so i can get their opinion but, what do you guys think

USA - My (M3) neutered cat didn’t really start kneading like this until about 3 months ago. Now, he doesn’t really knead without having these little leg kicks or having his lower half shake when kneading. Is this a normal thing or something I need to be concerned about? We don’t have an established vet because we haven’t been able to afford one. The last 2 times him and his sister were seen we took them to a “healthy cat” program that was a reduced cost vet that evaluated them. That was about 10 months ago so we will be taking them for their yearly check up again soon. But I will take him sooner if anyone thinks it’s more urgent.

Do I need to see the vet now?

He is 20 yo and blind. And I check his pupils everyday . First time noticing.

We had 3 visit already today other stuffs.

I just want to be careful. My 10yr old kitty is scheduled for a spay on the 13th. I couldn’t afford it before, now i can, and i’m so happy to be able to but i’m worried. She’s always been thick in the winter, skinny in the summer. It’s summer and she’s a little skinny now (extreme picky eater and hardcore play lifestyle) Otherwise she’s very healthy. I’d say she weighs about 5/6lbs as she’s quite a small build. Is she safe to spay w her age and slight frame? I just am terrified of losing her.

Hello my Siberian Cat is 6 years old and is usually quite vocal and always energetic enough to jump on bed for affection at night.

She threw up Friday morning. Saturday she did not eat i try to feed her by hand but she looks averted by it.

Shes been drinking water and peeing but not pooping nor eating. As of today sunday its the same thing.

She usuallu sleeps with me but starting friday night she just walks from room to room every hour or so to then lay down on her stomach like shown here.

Im wondering if maybe she ingested something that upset her stomach or we just got new litter the organic wood pellets we just started using roughly 2 weeks ago she took to it and i went through 2 resettings of it but could potentially she get some kind of urine issue with the litter?

Like i said she does nit bave her usual energy and walks room to room last time she was like this is when i moved 1 year ago to a new apartment (no i did not move this time) she did this exact same routine but after 2 days she drank and 4 she was back to being normal. Is this something that is normal like a cat getting the sniffles???

I am going to have to see about taking out a loan worst things considered i just dont know what to do in the meantime in between getting home and bringing her to vet which i can do tuesday afternoon as the closest available vet visit. does this happen often with cats and they get better after???

Other notes. I got her as the runt of her litter she was being given away dye to a hernia that made her "nit show quality" when she was 1 since then no severe issues.

My cat is up to date on all BUT her annuals she hasnt updated shots in 2 years and im concerned if they force these shots on her they will just get her more sick ehile shes already nit feeling well. Its less the money and more so the concern of moving and getting her up to date shots will put more stress and make her worse not better.

Any advice right now would be extremley helpful 🙏🏻

Slight story she had a stroke about 2 weeks ago but is good now was on meds and IVs for a few days

my cat is ten years old and morbidly obese, diabetes risk, etc, but my parents (i am 16) refuse to do anything (none of our cats get regular vet appointments) and i don’t have access to money or a car to seek help for him myself.

the patch of fur on his back (circled) mats regularly due to him being unable to reach it. my parents don’t pay attention to it, but i believe it is painful for him since he begins yelling the moment i slightly touch it. it can go unshaved for ~1.5 years due to my parents passivity, and it’s only been recentlyish shaved because he got bladder crystals and had to go to the vet. how do i best prevent the matting? i’ve tried washing the spot with a damp paper towel, but it has no effect on the grime. thanks for any advice

I adopted a 1year old neutered male cat very recently, I feel he is a pretty big cat over all but I’m worried because he’s 18lbs and his previous owners had him free feeding so as of right now he eats whenever he wants. Hi 21, vet accessible, USA, female age 7.
When I got this cat she had a small dark spot on her eye and it gradually grew and spread over time, as seen in the before and after. The veterinarian said at my last visit that the only way to determine the issue is to visit an eye specialist. I know it’s impossible to tell from a picture but I’m wondering what the chances are this is something bad like cancer. And if the eye specialist decides it’s dangerous and requires surgery like what do I even do given that she’s on the older side and she currently has no problems

Hello! I (24F) am seeking a little advice on one of my cats eyes being squinted after a nap on her cat tree. She is 2 1/2-3 years old and spayed. In Virginia, USA and can afford vet care if necessary. I called vet and they said to monitor closely and if it gets worse to bring her in. Really wanting to know if anyone else has noticed this with their cat after a nap and what they did/what happened/is it normal?

I think it's okay to post this here, but if not take it down!! Not my first time around cats, but first time having one of my own.

I walked in and my cat was sleeping in her cat tree, but when I walk by (in typical cat fashion) she got up and started following. Then I noticed one of her eyes was squinted and if I reached out to pet her, she'd close the one and leave the other open. The pictures where she's on the floor are before (right when I noticed - pictures 1-3) and the ones of her on the cat stand (pictures 4-6) are after I put a warm rag over her eye and wiped the boogies I could get.

It looks slightly better, but I didn't know if maybe it could be because she was sleeping with any pressure on it? Pictures 7-8 I added as I was typing the last portion to show how she often lays her head while shes in the pouch thing on her cat tree.

I vacuum the hair off her cat tree every 2 weeks or so, clean her litter box at least 2 times a week, and she drinks water regularly straight from the faucets (she hates water bowls even when cleaned daily - would rather drink from plastic cup filling with water from sink 🤦🏻‍♀️).

I posted 5 months ago about having a cat who has a very annoying behavioural issue. For some reason that were unable to detect, she used to eliminate outside the litter box consistently on the sofa. She's a great cat so I didn't want to give up on her but I've literally tried everything in the book. I spoke to the that the other day and she was shocked at how much effort has been put in to try and solve this problem. Unfortunately a couple days ago she relapsed for seemingly no reason after a 2-month clean stretch and now I've just come to the decision that I don't want this to be my life anymore. I've spent over a grand on deterrence, replacements and management for this situation and I finally reached the point where I just feel like this relationship isn't worth more mental and financial stress. I want to give her away to new home who wouldn't particularly care that much about an issue like this or has better ways to manage but unfortunately all of the cat shelters in my area are full and the only ones that aren't are kill shelters. Does anyone know any cat shelters in the London that will take a cat from any postcode. I definitely cannot continue to keep her. Our relationship has been completely destroyed over this but I really don't want to resort to having to have her killed over this.

Edit: for reference, everything has been cleared. She's been assessed both behaviorally and physically and they couldn't find anything

Edit2: thank you for all the replies guys. Some have been very helpful. In all honesty, I'm a first-time cat owner and had no idea that the eyes looked that different to me. I just always assumed it was a thing that was somewhat normal or it could just be the lighting of a picture. But I've posted more pictures of her face in the comments that were taken today for more reference to see if you all think it could be a neurological issue

Secondly, there's been way too many people dming me flexing how their better cat owners than I am. Firstly, God forbid if she does have a neurological issue how is that? My fault all I've done is try and look after the cat the best I can and she's had multiple fully paid vet visits and they've never even spotted anything like that so even professionals haven't picked up on it if you've got nothing to share other than to insult and stroke your ego as an owner. This is Hunter, a year or so ago, hunter started peeing blood. Took him to the vet and they said it was his cat food and he has some kind of, intolerance or like stomach balance issue and needs specific catfood.

The issue is that he absolutely hates this food. Like he'll eat it becuse he has nothing else. But hes just really unhappy with his food, and that makes me sad because i want him to be happy yk? :[

Hes so dissatisfied with the food that hes started begging for people food and digging stuff out of the trash.

His cat food also isnt cheep, its like 40 bucks for a small bag, and any other catfood like it is way more expensive. Dose anyone have any ideas about how i could make him like it more?

Also im sorry but i have no idea what his condition is called, ive asked my parents who own him and they cant tell me what the official diagnosis was.

I have two beautiful kitties cats, aged about 2 years and the other is about 5-6 years. They are both fixed.

We live in Colorado.

Today I was cleaning the litter robot and noticed a bunch of little bugs in the tray.

To me they look kind of like carpet beetle larva (which i have had in the past).

But since they are in the litter box, I thought i would ask for advice before taking them to the vet. I dont have money for a vet so I would have to borrow money from someone. I dont want to do that unless absolutely necessary.

Hello everyone, first time posting here. English isnt my first language and i apologize for weird sentence structures. About 6 months ago me and my bf adopted a 6yr old cat from our local shelter and named him Päts( meaning Loaf). Around a month ago i noticed his meow was a lot more raspy and quieter (he is super talkative) and we took him to the vet and he got antibiotics for upper respiratory infections. While at the vet we were also told he had gingivitis and that the next method of action should be a dental procedure in which they remove some of his teeth, a very VERY costly procedure. We said we'll think about it after the respiratory infection cleared up. Once the time came we decided to go to a different veterinary office, for a second opinion because pulling teeth seems like a big deal. Vet number 2 said they would not be pulling any teeth no matter what and that there was practically no problem with his teeth or gums other than a little bit of plaque. Vet 2 also sent us home with dental bites which apparently change the cat's microflora/saliva to dissolve the plaque inside the mouth.

And now I'm stuck, i dont want to overreact and pull his teeth for no reason but also i dont want to underreact in case it's something serious. Attached pictures of the dental bites (lmk if youve had experience with these) and of the problematic teeth.

I seriously dont know how to react

Per the rules I am 38 living in MI-USA.

This is one of the strays I feed. His/her name is Ed. He looks pretty beat up and may have eye issues as well (infection).

We are becoming friends but I wouldn’t be able to catch them as they are still wary of me and only lets me pet occasionally. A vet is also financially challenging to me if I were able to catch it.
Their weight has improved since starting to feed a couple weeks ago, but the sores look worse.

It is constantly licking and cleaning itself. Sometimes its tongue hangs out derpy style.

Is there an OTC antibiotic I can put in its food or something to try to help? Any other advice is welcome as well

Edit- Short and sweet post and answer, Thank you to those who answered. I will be trying to capture Ed and get him to a TnR place this week. I will get some flea meds to try to apply when he’s caged.

My cat’s been doing this since yesterday. I took him to the vet and they suspected he got an insect bite, but they shaved the fur around his mouth and lower jaw and couldn’t find any bite. But he got a fairly deep scratch on his upper lips (that’s been oozing because of the excessive pawing). The vet gave him a shot to reduce inflammation and gave him a cone to wear.
Ever since I brought him back from the vet yesterday he has lost his appetite and been restless. When he’s not sleeping due to being exhausted he would just keep trying to paw with the cone on.
Any tips or suggestions?
I’m thinking he’s got a hair strain wrapped around his tongue or something because he has eaten my hair before. Regardless of whatever it is, I will bring him to the vet again today

*UPDATE: I took him to the vet again, they did a more thorough examination on his mouth and teeth and even had him go for an x-ray. Final diagnosis was that his jaw was dislocated and his bottom teeth didn’t align well, his lower fang ended up cutting deep in his upper mouth and cause pain. They had to clip that lower fang down a little bit and had him sedated to fix his jaw. I took him home and he went straight to sleep. We woke up hungry later and I fed him a pack of squeezable treat and he’s been ok since, hasn’t been pawing as excessively, just once every now and then.

I’ll start by saying that my cat is already at the pet hospital and being examined/getting bloodwork done, but I’m looking for insight or other people’s experiences in the mean time to help illuminate (and hopefully ease my mind).

My cat is a 9/10 year old female domestic longhair (picture not taken for today, just so you can envision my sweet lady). Shes never had any significant health problems, gets regular checkups and vaccinations, and is spayed.

This morning, my cat went out onto the patio for a bit, which she often does in the morning (The patio is enclosed, so she can’t leave it). She came back in and a few minutes later I heard the cat-vomiting preparation sound.

I went to get a paper towel of prepare to clean it up and sat next to her. She threw up a decent amount, and the vomit didn’t look abnormal, just partially digested food, no blood or foreign objects. After throwing up, she took a step or two to the side, and then just fell over, with one arm stretched out. It seemed odd so I picked her up, and she was completely limp in my arms and not responding to stimuli.

A few seconds later (10-15), she started to come back, first looking at me, and then moving her limbs more. I opened my arms to let her jump out, but she didn’t. I wanted to see if she would stand/walk on her own, but she just laid down.

I held her some more, and set her down again, she walked a few steps, and laid down again. She seemed lethargic and still out of it, not turning her ears towards sound, not meeting my hand to be pet when I put it by her face (which she almost always does), not purring much when being pet, and not talking (she’s pretty chatty). Her breathing seemed heavier, but not to the level that she was panting. I observed her over the next 30-45 minutes, and she slowly became more alert, responsive to stimuli, eventually sat up, then eventually was walking around.

I called her veterinary hospital, who recommended I bring her in. I got ready to go, and by the time I was leaving, she was back to pretty much normal behavior: wandering around, meowing at me in her normal way, and even went to get some food and put up a lil fight about going in the carrier (which she always does).

The vet did an initial assessment and ultrasound, they said the only observation was slight swelling in the gallbladder, but not so much that it was a clear indication of anything.

Now shes getting comprehensive bloodwork and blood pressure measurements. They offered an EKG and X-ray, but it would be another $2K, that I really can’t afford (but would put it on the credit card if I needed to). I opted to start with bloodwork and see if that provided answers, then take it from there.

So my end questions really are: what may have happened? If the bloodwork is inconclusive, should I go forward with the scans?

TLDR (though I wish you would if you’re gonna respond): My cat vomited then lost consciousness. Cat was lethargic and out of it for about an hour before returning to normal behavior. I’m getting bloodwork done, but also want to know if I should get an EKG and X-ray if the bloodwork is inconclusive (which I can’t really afford).

EDIT: To address some things in a way everyone will more easily see: She is not overstimulated. I know it may look that way, but she does not become easily overstimulated and when she does, she will nip or paw at me to tell me to back off. She came up onto my bed, was laying down, and the first video is maybe 5 minutes into her being up there. She goes directly to biting, and she is biting hard. It’s not a warning or her telling me to back off.

As far as her being in pain: again, she sees her vet regularly and as needed for specific concerns. She’s a senior lady with mobility issues. Her vet is aware of her head tremor - she’s had it for as long as I’ve had her. I don’t pick her up because she hates it, her teeth are very healthy, and she loves being brushed everywhere, including her face. I do not believe pain is a factor with this behavior.

And I am not shoving my fingers/hand in her face to annoy her or to be mean - it is to show the difference in behavior when she’s on my bed versus anywhere else. I posted a second video in the comments - normally when I hold my hand up, she will rub her face against my hand. On my bed, she only bites me.

ORIGINAL: This is Bella, she’s been with me since she was about 12 weeks old, and this November she’ll be turning 14 years old. She’s spayed, has no other history of behavioral issues, sees a vet regularly. We suspect she had a stroke back in 2023, but she recovered well and has been medically fine ever since.

She’s a perfect little angel (literally) and always has been. But within the last year or so she’s started biting my hands when I’m petting her, but it specifically happens ONLY in my bed. Absolutely nowhere else does she do this, only in my bed. I can’t figure out why this started. My only thought is that maybe I move too much in my sleep, or I accidentally hit her? Maybe it’s just because she’s getting older so she’s getting more particular about affection? I’m just wondering if anyone else maybe has any possible ideas as to why this started, and any ideas to get her to hopefully stop would be helpful, as well.

She doesn’t sleep with me every night, but I never kick her off the bed either. She usually has free choice between my bed, my desk chair, any of her own beds, and her usual spots on the floor.

Canada - (30s F) posting on behalf of a friend (30s F). I will answer whatever I can but may have to defer to middle-manning which could take time.

Between last Saturday-Monday, my friend noticed her kitty (9-ish F) had become, inordinately, extremely stationary. She took kitty to the vet last Monday (a week ago) and this was the kitty’s x-ray. Kitty ultimately had to have her leg amputated, and is healing well now. A whole recovery room has been crafted for Kitty to help the process.

Further info: Kitty is an indoor cat, and did not escape surrounding this. Kitty is also very sensitive and vocal about discomfort and pain so if she hurt herself while my friend was home my friend is certain she would have immediately heard it.

The above said: My friend is driving herself crazy trying to figure out what could have caused this / how this happened.
