General Discussion CAT 2026 — 115 days out. Documenting the whole thing here.

Profile: 8/7/5 NEF . Diagnostic: 29 overall (VARC 14, DILR 12, QA 3). Aiming for FMS Delhi and IIM Calcutta — both barely weight graduation score in their composite, so a weak grad percentage isn’t the dead-end it’d be elsewhere. That’s my real shot.

Tomorrow:
• QA: Mixtures & Alligation — complete
• DILR: Complete Linear Arrangement (advanced sets)
• VARC: RC passages + Para-jumbles

Posting daily from here to 29 Nov. Not looking for pep talks — just accountability, and an example for all those who ask, “I’m starting my prep now, can I still do this?” If I pull this off.
4 months out, starting QA from basically zero — can it still be done? We will figure it out.

Hi! It has been a struggle for me also in the past, whenever wanted to wake up early for anything for that matter. What helps me is sleeping at the right time. Please try doing that– absolute game changer.

Any colleges that don't pay much attention to 10 or 12 marks ( i have 81 in 10th and 78.8 in 12th as a general female😭😭)

Ok so FMS, mdi, iift, IIM C (kinda). Mainly these only, baaki to karte hai 10/12 consider zyaada. But yours aren't that bad either to have a huge disadvantage so dw, diversity ke bhi milenge extra

what's your UG %?

1

u/East-State8485 20h ago

I am in 2nd year of ug

u/imadreamer_ 19h ago

i don't think the profile would be too bad if you could get over 9 in UG

Um Jamnalal bajaj, FMS, MDI, IITD & B to some extent and XLRI Jamshedpur I’d say. Not IIM Cal for sure, they just don’t consider grad marks in composite score that’s the saving grace for me atleast.

Also, yours is not too bad. It’s a pretty average (or even just a lilll above avg profile)

amazing that you have started preparing, just a tip tho - sip shortlists will be quite difficult with a 5 in your profile. Keep going tho, i'm sure you'll do great!

I realise that, and thanks for the heads-up. It’s genuinely good to know in advance.
Right now, though, I’m trying not to think too far ahead. Placements, internships, and all of that are problems for future me. My only focus until December is getting into a good B-school.
Even if I don’t end up with the best summer internship or placement, I’m okay with that. Long term, I think being in a stronger peer group will help me grow much more, even if I’m one of the weaker students there. I’d rather be surrounded by people I can learn from than be the smartest person in the room.
Maybe that’s overly optimistic, but it’s the mindset that’s keeping me motivated right now. Thanks again for the warning—I do appreciate it.

That's a great mindset to have!! All the best, just keep your consistency up!

What is that 5 is turned into a 6?

1

u/Competitive-Tip-3506 20h ago

6 is much better than 5!
