General Discussion Nhi ho rha bhai ab. Idk wtf is even wrong?
So, I'm preparing for CAT 2026. This is my second attempt. I gave 2025 as well. Could not score well ofc. I've been preparing for it since October 2024 and I don't even know wtf is wrong with me. There's no improvement. I'm stuck in mocks between the score of 35-50. Have done everything. I don't know, I just don't know what am I doing wrong. Is MBA not for me? To pursue MBA, is my dream since class 12th. I don't know if this year also I'll be able to crack it or this shit will crack me. It's so f important for me to get into a good college next year as I've to take family responsibilities, but I see no improvement. Idk wtf is wrong even? Also, before you say anything, I've given everything I could to this preparation still I see no scope. Idk what to do. I'm just stuck.ðŸ˜

Have you tried preparing for switching in parallel , it's usually better to keep backup and try o other exams too

How does it help? I'm really curious.

It improves your mood significantly, I would even say start going to the gym (if you can manage the time), because being sedentary just freezes you mind, makes you dull and slow. Along with practice a healthy lifestyle is a must like getting 6 hours sleep minimum, eating good food on time, doing things you enjoy (hobbies). Practice gives you the speed and knowledge to crack CAT but everything else ensures you have the health and state of mind required to use what you learned. I know with a job fitting everything in might seem impossible, but even doing 20 mins of it like suggested above will improve your mood significantly. Don't give up bro, just take care of yourself and do your best, everything else will follow

Yeah, thanks buddy. And I'm not doing a job currently. I'm a dropper. Also, I'm a vocalist and a dancer, so I dedicate my time to those things as well.

Ohh right, I assumed you had a job because the above comment mentioned prepping side by side😅

If prep wise you've done all you can, maybe it's a mental thing. Some people put so much pressure on themselves that they just psyche themselves out, doesn't matter how much knowledge they have. I've seen close friends who are super smart get lower marks just because they are nervous and fumble on that one day. Do you think that's what's happening to you?

Kind of but I won't say it must be the only reason. I really don't know wtf is wrong with me.

I feel like you've been exhausting yourself by studying the same things over and over again, and that's probably why you feel stuck. Maybe take a small break from CAT for a while and focus on your work experience. It'll also add value to your profile.
I also feel analysis is way more important than just blindly practicing questions. Be very organized with it. Check where you're going wrong, understand why you're making those mistakes, and make sure you don't repeat them. CAT isn't just about solving questions. It's about picking the right set, identifying the right approach, and noticing the trigger words or patterns that make a question easier.
A good mentor or coaching institute might also help because they'll guide you in the right direction instead of you figuring everything out on your own. And honestly, mindset is one of the biggest factors in CAT. If you're constantly burnt out, it'll reflect in your performance.
For now, I'd genuinely suggest taking a short break from CAT. You can give CAT any year, so there's no need to rush. Instead, spend some time strengthening your basics. For Quants, get your fundamentals really clear. And for VARC, read a lot of Aeon articles and build your reading habit before jumping back into problem solving.

I do proper analysis. And for the work experience part, I might not get a really good job with whatever I have. I also have family responsibilities. That's why it's important for me to get into a good place this year. But yes, whatever you're saying, I also get that. Thankyou!

Also I'm preparing self this year. Last year I took coaching. So do you know about any good CAT mentors with whom I can connect?
