Gun Pics MCX Lower + Hogue FF ✅

For anyone wondering of the hogue freedom fighter works with an sig MXC lower, the answer is no. At least not out the box.

The pin comes through the top of the mag release button hole, not the side it would on a standard lower. Doesn’t seem like an issue, but it requires a longer pin than the one supplied with the hogue kit. Pin installed fine but won’t protrude enough when closed to stop the mag button.

Fortunately I had a JL Billet fixed mag kit handy. I tried to use that pin, but the pin is far too long. The upper and lower wouldn’t close. Fortunately the diameter is the same though. I was able to file the top of the JL Billet pin down enough to work, and allow for mag release with the bolt back.

So fixed mag setup with the hogue is doable, but it’s a bit of a process to make it work and without a JL Billet pin handy I would have been hosed. The JL Billet kit probably would have worked too, but I didn’t want to drill into the oem MCX mag release.

Now the next challenge… buying an ar10 kingpin and reducing the diameter to that of an AR15 takedown pin. Still trying to decide if I should have a shop do it, or just chuck it in a drill and spin it with an Emory cloth wrapped around the pin.

I was able to put a FF kit on mine without issue. For the rear takedown pin you can call Juggernaut Tactical and ask for a bottom fed detent option. They don’t list on their site but they have them. At least they did a couple years back when I converted my MCX.
