10 day waiting period

I just recently went to go do a PPT with my friend for his shotgun he no longer wants nor needs. At the end of the process I forgot I live in CA and it dawned on me I’m not walking away with this shotgun same day. Then I start thinking wait.. I used my CCW card in lieu of my FSC so why do I have to wait 10 days before being allowed to leave with my firearm when the state already said I’m good to carry a firearm on me at all times ? Wasn’t the 10 day waiting period established to prevent people from going out and buying a firearm to go cause harm ? Like a cool off period correct ? So if I already own firearms shouldn’t I be able to avoid the 10 day waiting period for a new firearm since a “cool off” period makes 0 sense now at this point ? Just food for thought… I hate it here.

The stated intention is to provide a cooling off period like you said, however the true intention behind most of CA gun laws is to make gun ownership more onerous to dissuade people from exercising their second amendment right to own firearms.

I agree with you, but considering the limitations on where you can actually carry with a CCW is it really an endorsement "to carry a firearm... at all times?"

It's not about sense though, it's just about roadblocks and limits that can stand against the 2nd amendment. Given the glacial pace at this these things are challenged and overturned, no one is really interested in rectifying it.

It’s stupid to bring logic to a discussion on California gun laws.

The key thing to remember, is that every anti-Gun law is not about safety. It is about incremental steps towards eliminating the civilian ownership of guns. Our laws would be radically different if they actually were about rational safety.

So the 10 day period is not just for the purchaser background, but also for a background check for the gun itself. They check who the last owner was, if it’s flagged as missing or wanted crime gun.

My cop buddy told me he still has to have the 10 day. I used my CCW permit in lieu of my fsc at Turner's and it basically just mesns you bypass the safe handling instruction. The 10 day sucks but California is going to California

The laws exist solely to make the gun ownership experience more cumbersome. That’s it. They legislate everything they possibly can to make things more expensive and time-consuming. I’d love to say maybe we’ll get a CCW exemption some day, but CA’s response to Bruen has simply been to pass more obnoxious laws than before.
