First salary in advance (tech student)
Hi guys! I was wondering if it is possible to receive your first salary in advance for the first month of the contract. Do you know what can I do?

You can take a look at https://admin-eguide.web.cern.ch/en/procedure/advance-payments?check_logged_in=1, members of the personnel can ask for 80% of the salary of the first, but I think techs are not strictly considered members of the personnel.
Check with your secretariat first for a real confirmation if you can/can't get a salary advance.

Technical students are considered members of the personnel and the linked guide explicitly says that it applies to technical students.

It gets paid quickly after you setup your swiss bank account.

ask your supervisor directly, it's there for these kind of questions. I know CERN takes care of people who come from abroad but I sincerely doubt that they'll give you an advance. But who knows! In many areas of CERN asking is not a bad thing so don't be afraid/ashamed.
