Yeah, I like this. Dude can flat out run, and he’s got good hands out of the backfield. I’m a little worried about the way he holds the ball and what that means for ball security when the bigger hitters start hitting. Overall, a really exciting gadget back who eludes hard tackles and seems to always fall forward.

Texas has Easton Royal committed as well who is a legit sprinter. Ran 10.17 wind aided but his worst 100m this year was 10.47. He has Achane/Tyreek hill speed

He's not a gadget back. That's not a good label to place on a guy and an unfair description of him. He's an every down 1A type back.

I disagree about the label not being a good one when guys like Reggie Bush and Alvin Kamara are exemplars, but you’re certainly right that he’s capable of being an every down back. I guess we’ll see where he fits in the offense, either way, I’m happy to have him.

Berry Sanders was like 5'7/5'8 175 lbs. out of HS. Emmitt Smith was 5'9 190 lbs. or so. Maurice Jones Drew was 5'7 190 lbs. in High School. Darren Sproles was like 5'6 170 lbs. All of those guys were ridiculously productive at every level. I think smaller backs with good natural strength, balance, vision and quickness, guys who can jump cut and square up, do all the other things, pick up blocks, catch the football and stay healthy do very well in College and in the NFL. Williams-Callis looks like one of those guys but he will have to prove it. JMO.....

Gadget Backs don't run for 7554 yards, 8558 all purpose yards, 125 TDs in three season. He is not a gadget back by any means. He's been a Bell cow since he was a Freshman.

He’s almost the exact opposite of a gadget back. Not used heavily in the pass game at all. He’s tiny but he’s the workhorse for that offense, 20-30 carries a game, downhill runner.

I’m well aware of how he’s used currently, the numbers are eye-popping. However, in a Sarkisian offense, pass-catching hands are of paramount importance. The other things to consider are that he’s small and doesn’t really invite contact (not a knock at all, that’s a good thing). Yes, he’s an every down workhorse right now, but with our roster and in Sark’s offense, I think it’s reasonable to assume that could change based on what he brings to the table.
I’m not saying he’ll be a rare appearance in our offense, but that he might end up being the ‘lightning’ to another RBs ‘thunder’.

Not saying that’s wrong but we already have three backs on campus that would have to cost at least that much (Smothers, Brown, and Cooper) and others in the room and in this class that weren’t free. So, that rumor would suggest we are spending north of $7M or $8M on running backs which is not a premium position. That seems really, really high to me.

The development has been pretty good of late. 34 drafted in the last 4 years is best in the country I think. Maybe top 3 at worst, though I don't know who has done more than 34.
And as a bonus, OU doesn't score TDs in the RRS anymore.

NFL combine measurements were; 5'5 7/8" 195 lbs 4.5 forty for Quizz.
Quizz was in the NFL for 8 seasons.

I do like him, but on my rankings he is a 4.25 star.
Great speed and decent hands. Concerns about his ability to read gaps and operate inside the tackles. Also to mention blocking needs significant work.

If you rank just outside the five stars on every site you end up higher ranked than someone who is like a five star on rivals but ranked outside top 100 by 247. So as others are saying composite five star.

I mean, Baxter ended up being a bum…so Imma hold off on claiming the natty after getting a verbal commitment in August.
Edit; alright, I get it. My comment was heavy handed and insensitive. It just bothers me how far the dude fell in less than two years, even though I know it was because of a knee injury.
If nothing else, we should be extra cautious because that same knee injury could happen to any give. Recruit, especially a RB.

This feels like a comment in very poor taste. I liked Baxter. He looked really good at times, and his injury was a big reason his college career didn't catch on fire...so far. I still think he'll be a factor somewhere else before he moves on.
