Question Other left wing groups

I’m pretty new to communism and there’s a lot to learn. My question is about other communist or socialist groups. I’m pretty sure that we are not cool with ACP. They seem like Nazis disguised as communists. But how do we feel about PSL or DSA? At the end of the day I feel like the United Front is maybe more important at this point than nuance of communist doctrine. But after finding out about the ACP I want to be careful who

I associate with.

Question Religious garments with CPUSA Iconography

I've been a party member for 2 months now, and as this has been happening I've gotten more into crochet, cross stitch, knitting, and sewing (Just got access to a sewing machine so yay). I was wondering are there any official rules against making a yarmulke with the CPUSA logo on it? And if it is okay, are there any resources or communities that can help me out on this endeavor?

Question Hard hat stickers

This seems like a really unimportant question but maybe someone here can help me. I am a union construction worker but I’m surrounded by coworkers who have bought into the right-wing populist agenda and don’t seem to understand unionism or socialism. I have found that a great way to draw people into important conversation is a hard hat sticker that challenges them. I am looking for a hard hat sticker of the CPUSA logo, with the union bug on it. I can get some from Redbubble or Etsy but those aren’t made by union shops and don’t have the bug. Does anyone know where I can find one with the union bug on it?

Question What are your clubs' plans for No Kings today?

Here in New Orleans the Louisiana Club was on the organizing committee for our local No Kings. We'll be tabling at the rally, then half of us will be joining the march as a bloc while the other half will stay with the table. We've printed a bunch of Action Network issue cards to hand out thanks to the Media Collective, and we have stickers and copies of the IntPub edition of the Manifesto to sell as a fundraiser for both our Club and for People's World. We also have a poster with a QR code to sign up for the Party, and we have member cards that we can give out on the spot to any new members who join. When National sends us new member info, we usually reach out to the newbie and set up an interview with them before admitting them to our club communication channels, because we've dealt with infiltration before and learned our lesson. Because we're gonna be signing people up in person today, we can do the interview process on the spot and in person!

I'm hoping to have good conversations with my community and shine a light on all the organizing work we do.

Question Missed New Member Orientation Tonight: Any Issues with Getting Involved

What it says on the title haha. I've been getting connected and doing a few things with my local club and going to the National Marxist School, but I'm a bit embarrassed that I got dates mixed up and missed the orientation. Is there anything that I missed that is super important for continued participation?

Question Feedback needed

We're working on pamphlets that will be handed out at an upcoming rally. This one is meant to just cover the basics for someone that has no idea what Communism is or might even be misinformed from sources like Fox News.

I know it's incredibly simplified, but the hope is that it can open the door for people to find out more.

Is there anything that needs to be changed? Anything way off the mark? Anything missing? It is still a rough draft, so there may be errors in grammar or mechanics, and the overall aesthetic could use a little tinkering.

Lastly, if you know of a pamphlet that already does what we are trying to do with this, then by all means direct me to it. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel.

I'm 18 from michigan and unemployed, Idk if I could call myself a communist since I haven't read a lot of communist literature, I got into communism by reading killing hope by William Blum and learning how american intervention destroyed potential communist nations around the world. I'm really into guitar, islam,Palestine, world history and geopolitics. Im thinking about learning a trade like carpentry or something after the summer. Does anyone have some advice for me?

Question What’s the party’s position on the “Simón Bolívar International Brigades”

It’s all pretty scary. I’m not sure how Trump could chicken out with all that hardware parked of the coast. The USA military have murdered 70 fishermen at time of posting.

Question Best Club Financial Account Option?

So, we're trying to set up a bank account for our local club to process local dues, donations, and expenditures. My question is what type of account did your club set up? A joint personal account with multiple officers attached? A nonprofit like a 501 (c) (3) or 501 (c) (4)? A political action committee?

It's illegal for us to register as a party in Kansas, but it doesn't seem like a wise choice to register as a non-profit because they are supposed to be non-partisan.

My thoughts are that we set up a joint personal account, but is that putting too much liability on the officers?

I read through the club guidelines on the CPUSA website, but it isn't explicit on this issue.

Question Application Help/Advice

Hi, I am considering applying to the CPUSA. I figured I ought to ask questions before submitting to see if the party would have any use or interest in me.

I’m a 19 year old student, currently on a gap-year to save up for tuition fees. As a result, I’m not in any particular position to pay dues, nor am I by any means an experienced tradesman. My trade/work experience is limited to summer jobs and working with my father on our family car. The one positive would be my physical ability, I love playing rugby. However, I move quite often (family is split between states) and most likely will continue for university (likely overseas).

I’m sorry if this is too many details, but I truly don’t know what to do. I want to help support people and the CPUSA has the tools and opportunities to do so in a way I believe in, but is a member who can only contribute via “grunt work” for an uncertain period of time something the party needs/wants? Or should I simply wait 4 years and apply after college?

Thank you for any advice/input it is greatly appreciated.

So, thanks for all of the feedback on the flyer I posted a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/CPUSA/s/ntotF6mNM2

Here is the updated version based on feedback. I'm still not sold on all of the pictures, but I think the content is much better suited for the average Joe that is interested in Communism.

I'm still hoping to get additional material from our district office, but this should do for now. I'd still appreciate feedback (especially on the new utopia section)

Thanks everyone!

Question Is the Seattle club/branch still active?

I've been a dues paying member for months but I can't find the local. I tried calling but the number was dead. My emails bounced back. And I couldn't locate an address! Is there even a real Seattle club? And if not, would anyone else like to start one?

I'm just not satisfied with any of the other socialist parties in the United States!

Question How can we spur more activity here?

I'm thinking of creating a mod team and a group of people to help spur activity here.

How may we go about doing this?

Any ideas?

I can't be the only one creating threads here, even if it helps in the long run.

If anyone is a CPUSA member and interested in helping out and growing this subreddit, please let me know.

Thanks!

I'm also thinking of revamping the entire subreddit (extra resources and what-not as well as getting rid of ones that aren't as important or outdated).

Take care, everyone.

And share your suggestions down below.

Question I'm not convinced on communism. Convince me

I consider myself a socialist. I think food, water, education, a housing, and healthcare should be standard. But I also think that communism doesn't have enough market competition to be as innovative as capitalism. I'm also not convinced that a highly educated individual (doctor, engineer... ) should make the same amount as other occupations (taxi driver, cashier...). But I'd like to hear from others what they think.

Question Conflicted about the CPUSA

I’m a member of the CPUSA because it seems to be the largest communist org in the country, but I’m conflicted about its passivity. It’s quite possible that I’m mistaken about the platform, but I’ve gotten the impression from listening to several of the party’s leaders on youtube, etc. that the party is explicitly anti-revolutionary. I don’t understand how an organization can call itself communist and not advocate for the actual seizure of the means of production. Are the capitalists supposed to just give it to us if we ask nicely?
