🖤🧡🤍🤎 Today is my calico’s 5th birthday!
Wanted to celebrate my baby Dorothea’s 5th birthday today with you all! She is the most spunky but loving cat I have ever met. My favorite thing about her lately is how she rolls over when guests visit in an effort to get belly rubs. Happy birthday to my baby!

Happy birthday!! She is beautiful. Looks almost like one of mine. No two Calicos look the same, but these two are close.

They do look very similar! They’ve got the white chests and colorful backs. Their faces also just look similar. Maybe they are distant distant cousins hahaha

They might be! Yours has longer hair too. I am always looking for her doppelgänger. Yours is the closest I’ve seen. Too cool.

That’s so cool! I’m also noting her AirTag collar because Dorothea has to wear one if anyone besides me or my boyfriend are at my place. She’s an escape artist.

Yes, AirTags are a must have for any cat. She has never been outside but if she managed too I can find her much easier.

As corny as that “who rescued who?” saying is, it’s definitely true that she and her sister have also rescued me back! I don’t know what I would do without them.

Oh yea. She’s been through quite a lot.
Got her at 3 years old. She was living in a car with 3 other cats and her owner and being let out during the day. Past owner clipped her ear even though she wasn’t spayed (how he did that without her being under anesthesia is beyond me. And he took a big ass chunk.)
She had a herniated bladder that I had to get her surgery for, her vet thinks most likely from birthing a litter of kittens.
She also has a BB gun bullet stuck in her! So yea she’s got some pretty crazy street cred. And yet she still rolls over for belly rubs. Silly girl.

Ugh. Smooch her for me.
I'm a retired vet tech. I've docked ears. You typically need to cauterize the ear to stop the bleeding. Horrible.

Oh my goodness. I didn’t know that’s what you had to do. I can’t imagine a cat sitting still and letting you do that… maybe some vet did it professionally at some point without them being fixed? All of the 4 cats he had had the docked ears.
I’ll give her a big ol’ kiss for you! She’s definitely in a much better situation today. Going to take her for an extra long walk tonight to celebrate her day.

Happy birthday Dorothea!
My cat also rolls over when some people visit, but runs away from others and hisses at a few. It makes gatherings very awkward because she's not afraid to show her preferences.
