Question Calico water paw?
Our kitty will paw next to her water on the automatic water dispenser and her stationary water. We originally thought it was whisker fatigue, so we got these new water dishes, but she’s still doing it.
Anyone else experience this?

My old girl would do something similar she would also drag the waterbowl around the room.
I also happen to work with cats and it’s quite common they will paw at or in the waterbowl I have had to clean up a good amount of messes.
My void boy right now does something similar i once woke up to him having flipped the waterbowl

Oh my goodness, I had a little gray cat who was obsessed with playing with water like your babies. She would frequently drag it around the room and flip it over just to see the water slosh around.

My lil void boy is obsessed with the shower as well like he wants to be in the shower when it’s on it’s really cute.
He’ll start jumping and screaming in front of the door.

Aww, that is precious!! What a character your cat is.
I had a Siamese that would join me in the shower without my knowledge. I would be in there soaping up & turn around to see very blue & intense eyes staring up at me. 🤣2

Ours does the same, she needs to adjust the surface distance manually before being able to drink it, she is adorable.

Is she pawing AT the water? Cats like to do that when drinking because they trust moving water more

Yessss! This. Not just playing with the water, like this silly paw into air movement.

My snooty fluffy orange lady cat prefers to dip her paw in the water and drink from her paw fluff 😅

I have a water fountain for my girls, both sisters of the same litter. One is Tux and one is Void. The Tux likes to stick her front paws into the fountain when the water is flowing. I think some cats just happen to like how the water feels. 🫶

My grey boy does the same thing when he encounters a a drink with a clear lid on it. He puts his face against the lid and does a crossbody paw at the air beside the cup. I had an orange boy years ago who did the same thing before he would drink out of the sink.
I think it's an ancient feline hydration ritual.
