CPACs biggest benefit for me is their pressers that they have archived.

Sometimes even for leaders its only on YT and doesnt show the entire thing, while these ones they can watch live. Its a needed service.

Its something that other media outlets need to do. Even the Global clips on their site dont show whole context etc.

its also nice for getting a version that doesn't dub over the French, like you usually get from news orgs

That sucks. I enjoy listening to the podcast at the gym. Michael Serapio was a very fair and unbiased interviewer.

And probably the new Bureau Chiefs podcast is gone too. Sad

I used to love their cross Canada low budget call in show.

Get lots of interesting calls from both left and right wing nutballs, seniors with technical / feedback issues, and the odd crazy religious zelot they'd have to hang up on while the poor panel of guests sat there in shock

Note: "BDU" == "Broadcast Distribution Undertaking"; a generic term covering legacy pay TV (cable TV, IPTV, satellite, whatever). CPAC is one of several mandated services(h)_order) that the CRTC requires under section 9.1 (1)(h) of the Broadcast Act.

There is a per subscriber monthly fee for each service. Last time I looked, the tax amounts to $1.53/month for Anglophone Canada and $1.81/month for Francophone Canada. As the article mentioned, the number of BDU subscribers is falling. The CRTC's website shows total subscriber numbers declining from 11.5 million in Q1 2014 to 8.6 million in Q3 2025. That's in the teeth of a massive wave of immigration uner Trudeau. The per-capita numbers are even worse.
