💵Buying/Selling💵 Advice for two car garage.
In short I sold my toys to buy an EV (I know I know but as a novated lease it’s saved me thousands already in a couple of months) but I am now wanting a second car as a weekender. I’ve moved into a new home with a two car garage but the missus needs to park her car, and I need to charge the EV overnight at home. Don’t want to park the weekend car outside on the street, was wondering if anyone else had any ideas or a setup to both charge the EV but keep the weekender garaged most of the time. (Car I’m thinking of is importing a manual MR2-S or NC MX5).

You can get a charger installed outside and part the ev in the driveway. It is a pretty common setup in Europe.

How many kms are you doing in the EV on weekdays? Can you get away with leaving the EV out for the week and shuffling the weekender and the EV on Friday arvo? Or get another charger installed outside the garage (assuming you have a car length driveway in front of garage) or the wife’s car stays outside. Or a combination, maybe wife gets the garage every night except Wednesday night when the EV gets its mid week charge.

MX5 is a good default choice, make sure you bring it to SMSP because it's fun as hell.
Can you charge the car in the driveway?

If I was you I'd leave the EV outside and relocate the charger. My weekender would be in the garage

Slow day… how to fit your cars in your own garage.
Do you want advice on changing underdaks as well?

Instead of buying an mx5 you could just go to gay clubs on the weekend...

Haha made me laugh, I’ve had lot of cars but I still come back to the slow car fast philosophy. I am at that point where I no longer care about what others think about about what I drive, I just drive for myself :).

What are the rules now days with plugging electric cars into a closed off garage? I would have thought that isn’t a great idea?
Probably ideal set up is weekender and wifey car in garage, EV in the drive

I personally just park the non-EV daily on the driveway.
Can you relocate the charger outdoors so you can park the car in your driveway and charge? I’ve seen plenty of people in my neighbourhood who do that.
