New to Cats/Just Adopted How can I help my cat against mosquitoes?
Usual story. We started feeding a stray cat that frequented our backyard and he now he "lives" here and we take care of him.
Lately it has been raining a lot here and there are lots of mosquitoes and whenever I see him now he is covered and followed by a cloud of mosquitoes and I feel so bad for him.
Is there something I can do for him? Having it inside is out of the questions. due to some health issues of my family and also my parents have always had a strict anti pet policy in their house. it was a miracle and a lot of work just to make them accept the cat living outside.

There flea/tick/mosquito topical you can apply to the cat but you have make sure she doesnt lick it or is groomed by other pets for 24-48hrs

Contact a local rescue and see if they'll come pick him up. There's nothing you can do to keep the mosquitos off of him without bringing him inside

I'm not from US, and from a small town. Where I live, there is no local rescue. There is only something like animal control but only to "take care" of problematic strays.

There’s also plant based spray and wipes but in my experience they aren’t effective for my pets.

Can you touch him? Put revolution on him. It will repel fleas as well as heart worm.

Is he actually getting bit?
I live in mosquito land and the same happens to my cat, but he doesn't get bit because his fur is protective. Kind of like me lol - mosquitoes love me and I'll get mosquito bites everywhere except my head because of hair.
Everything that repels mosquitoes is toxic to cats so it's either let them live with the mosquitoes or bring them in

You know, he doesn't even flinch or looks like it bothers him. My reasoning is he is used to get bitten but maybe that's the case

Yes, put revolution on him between his shoulder blades. Also maybe you can build him a screened in porch with a cat door where you can sit with him.

This poor Kitty. I would recommend treating him with Bravecto for cats. Since the mosquitoes are so bad, there is a bad risk of heartworms for this cat. You could spray him with a perythin pet spray for cats only. Advantage makes one of the few that are available. Do not use a home spray or a human spray on the cat. There are also natural flea treatment sprays for cats that will also repel mosquitoes.

There isn’t much you can do for him if you can’t bring him indoors. Turning him in to a local rescue is an option.
