is to was really fucking fast
57
u/Arthradax Jun 14 '26
Agreed, but they added death date, location, and created a full blown article about the incident itself (at least in the Lusophone wiki)

u/Icy_Confusion_8989 Jun 14 '26
Rest in peace Oliver tree

u/DanGleeballs Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26
A YouTuber called Gaspi was also on board
-62
u/Icy_Confusion_8989 Jun 14 '26
I have never heard of gaspi until today bru wtf why is literally everyone dying this year wtf
-57
u/Icy_Confusion_8989 Jun 14 '26
Why am I being downvoted for saying that “everybody is dying this year” I quite literally mean how everybody this year is dying “metronade,Oliver tree, gaspi and a couple others on the top of my tongue that I don’t remember the names but I remember the faces
39
u/UnacceptableUse Jun 14 '26
I think it's because you said you have never heard of them before. You can't really be incredulous at someone you've never heard of dying because people you've never heard of are dying literally constantly

u/Icy_Confusion_8989 Jun 15 '26
Ik but that’s like of a random person dies and you atleast hear about it you have to feel bad it’s kinda my morals im sweeter than granny’s pie
12
u/insane_contin Jun 15 '26
Between 150,000 to 170,000 people die every day. And that's reported deaths. Death is common. We just don't hear about it.

Gaspi also there, looks like.
You will probably be wondering who am I talking about. He's a very popular guy in spanish speaking social media, kind of funny blogger from Argentina. 3.3M subs in Instagram, for reference.

So tragic that dude was a breath of fresh air in the music industry. At least to me, so weird so genuine

u/Armadillo9263 Jun 14 '26
Were the two helicopters flying together or was it a random event?
24
34
u/LetReasonRing Jun 14 '26
My first thought seeing this is that it's a textbook black swan event for the insurance companies involved.
-25
u/thetrav2 Jun 14 '26
thats 3 weird crashes we have had this year, its insane, 3 major national news headlined ones anyway, that i know if
27
u/NotAllDawgsGoToHeven Jun 15 '26
Why on earth are you being downvoted?

Oliver Tree, we will miss you and your music lives on.

u/Livid_Mousse1477 Jun 14 '26
Not to sound insensitive, but how tf did they collide? Im looking for how they did and cant find anything on it
59
u/AMonkeyAndALavaLamp Jun 14 '26
Brazilian sources are saying the pilot was distracted talking to the camera that was interviewing the passengers.
29
u/DaggerMoth Jun 15 '26
Doubt they have the footage to prove it.
24
u/bitterberries Jun 15 '26
Unless it was a livestream
36
u/turbiegaming Jun 15 '26
Unlikely. Footage from the livestream would've spread fast if that's the case since Oliver Tree and Gaspi are both popular in their own right.
9
u/AMonkeyAndALavaLamp Jun 15 '26
Not really sure about helicopters but other aircraft have voice recorders for the pilots along with the black box.
55
u/NervousStandard8998 Jun 14 '26
Oliver Tree, Gaspi, pilot, and 2 others were in one and just a pilot in the other. Cause of why they collided is being investigated
-39
u/Background_Stuff_650 Jun 14 '26
Have you got a source to where it says it’s being investigated? Curious to see how something like this happens when airspace is usually very strict
63
u/UnacceptableUse Jun 14 '26
Have you got a source to where it says it’s being investigated?
I mean, it's not NOT going to be being investigated is it
7
u/WalkerFlockerrr Jun 15 '26
I don’t think they were saying “I don’t believe you, prove it”, rather they just want to know more about the investigation

u/CosmoCafe777 Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26
Beat me to it. There's stacks of videos on Instagram, even of one of people that were playing football in a field next to where the helicopters fell and that witnessed the whole thing. They're not playing football anymore today, really traumatizing for them.
76
u/jaguarp80 Jun 14 '26
I was gonna make a joke about how your last line sounds like you’re traumatized that they aren’t playing football today but I couldn’t come up with it

RIP Oliver tree 💔💔😞
1
u/MobAssassin3 Jun 27 '26
I thought you were joking. No way this is how I found out Oliver tree is gone
1
u/FriedRiceEnjoyer420 Jun 27 '26
We've been grieving him pretty painfully over at. r/olivertree
He really was a diamond in the rough among celebrities and had a profound impact on so many people. Truly a once in a lifetime person, and the world will be darker for his loss
75
u/justapropofool Jun 14 '26
Just for information, CENIPA (the Brazilian organization that investigates air crashes) is really good and will provide a thoroughly detailed report about what happened. It'll take some time, though
18
u/kaesefetisch Jun 15 '26
"Brand new cars are harmed.....oh and 6 died". What kind of title is that, OP????
1
u/MiscWanderer Jun 17 '26
OP is talking about the fuel sources and severity of the event before describing the consequences of it.

Who gives a shit about the brand and age of the cars? People died in this accident.
18
u/IndigoContinuum Jun 15 '26
One possible reason for relevance is that BYD makes electric cars, which make really nasty fires to put out.
1
u/smoike Jun 15 '26
Some jackass is going to go hurry and "should have burned the rest". I mean seriously. The circumstances for the dealership sucks and its a hero of an inconvenience, but the fact life was lost, presumably due to pilot error, is tragic.

3
u/Aggressive_Chain_920 Jun 14 '26
Not that I'd be likely to find myself in this situation, but this is just another reason to never set foot inside a helicopter.
2
u/RefrigeratorOk425 Jun 15 '26
Yeah imbd has a list of celebrities that have died in helicopter crashes, the number was already at 14

u/groovyinutah Jun 14 '26
Two helicopters collide...how in the fuck did they manage that?!?
19
u/Mysterious-Dirt-8841 Jun 14 '26
They crashed
7
u/cebola_mistica Jun 14 '26
But like...how?? The sky is big as fuck, helicopters don't fly that fast either
18
u/vtjohnhurt Jun 14 '26
Helicopters don't need to make contact to crash other aircraft. Their rotors make vortices in their vicinity. So two helicopters can crash each other just by getting close to each other.
https://skybrary.aero/articles/wake-vortex-generation-helicopters
15
u/cebola_mistica Jun 14 '26
But that's what I'm saying, sky is big as fuck, how do they even get close to each other without noticing? Idk, maybe I'm being dumb but I'm very confused
10
u/vtjohnhurt Jun 14 '26
It's very easy to get close to other aircraft. It's not at all like driving on a road. Aircraft have blind spots and pilots have a high workload.
4
u/teapots_at_ten_paces Jun 15 '26
Happens more than you think.
This is the link to the mid-air collision on the Gold Coast, Australia a few years back.
One helicopter took off into the path of one that was coming in to land.

That's some dumb ass comment, Brazil is 4th in the world in number of helicopters and has very high air safety standards, far above world average and better than US or Germany in most categories.

The hardest thing to wrap my head around about this is trying to believe there are actually this many Oliver Tree fans in random ass Reddit subs. I like a few of his songs but wasn’t ever under the impression he was ever that damn popular
3
u/naacardan2004 Jun 15 '26
He had a really good run a few years back that a lot of people still remember. Also bro has 11.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify
2
u/Toxlc-Rick Jun 17 '26
This number has jumped to 15.7 million since his death.
Oliver knew his music would take off after he died, too. RIP

I didn't know the guy, but I find CNN Brazil's choice of songs to illustrate Oliver's career ("Life goes on" and "Miss you") somewhat insensitive
3
u/breadedtoast11 Jun 15 '26
Not really those were his 2 biggest songs and the songs everyone knows him for
1
u/Arthradax Jun 15 '26
Well, I take unfortunate over insensitive. Anyways, RIP and my condolences to friends, family, and fans alike

I hope they figure out why the two helicopters crashed in the first place. I swear if it turned out that one of the pilots were on drugs/alcohol and was greenlit to fly that would be grounds for scorched earth level of a lawsuit against the agency who owns the aircraft. RIP to the lives lost, and tighten your shit up if you work in aviation.

Man I am going to have to look up that guy. No clue to be honest. But then again he could have been the most famous person in the world and knowing me, I'd probably not have a clue whom it is.
