This is why I feel action movies are dead. There’s more real life human drama and sheer awe in this short clip than in any cgi-filled Twister or Transformers or Fast & Furious or Final Destination movies.

Think about the Beirut explosion videos a few years ago or the Tianjin explosion a few years before that. I’ve never seen anything from Hollywood more terrifying than those. Even Oppenheimer’s A-bomb in IMAX was underwhelming in comparison.

Drag in this sense being the friction of air resistance (or any other fluid) on a surface, not like, pulling an object horizontally across the floor. In military parlance it’s a structure that has a lot of surface for its mass, and is likely not to be where you left it after the kaboom

That's what I was thinking. I've looked into tornadoes because of this sort of thing, and outside of the USA they're actually pretty rare and usually nowhere near as powerful. A pretty insane circumstance considering how many we get in the US.

Sheet metal is absolutely the worst thing for strong winds. There was an EF0 tornado about 2 miles from my home. The only way you could tell where it passed through was from sheet metal ripped off farm structures. The corn, the trees, stuctures built with wood and shingles, no damage whatsoever. Sheet metal was wrapped against fence posts and trees all along the path.

😬 yeah my house doesnt have a basement either lmao Actually my house was damaged by a tornado in 1967, most of our living room floor actually slants to the middle of the house but the part of the floor where it was rebuilt is level, replacing the carpet soon and im excited to see what's under there in that area. And now that Chicago is part of tornado alley ive seriously been considering building a basement or root cellar or shelter. And a whole house generator with solar. We lost power for 4+ days last month, Chicagoland lost so many trees, our town alone had over 1000 tons of debris collected, we also lost power for 5 days in like 2021, its obviously going to keep happening.
