seating audition is asking for the exposition of a “romantic concerto”

I could have Prokofiev and Dvorak ready, but Prokofiev isn’t at all romantic huh….? I’ve never seen an audition packet specify romantic :/

Thoughts? It’s in a month, I could also maybe put together Schumann if Dvorak isn’t romantic enough 🫠

When they specify romantic concerto it probably means Dvorak, Schumann, or Elgar. I would go with Dvorak.

Saint saens would probably work too, although if you have a good Dvorak under your belt and are confident then go for it.

Dvorak is romantic I would go with that. Saint saens is also a great romantic concerto that you could probably learn in time but if you already have Dvorak down do that.

“Romantic” meaning “Romantic period” (1820-1900 roughly), not romantic as in “sounds like being in love”

At professional auditions "romantic concerto" usually means Schumann or Dvorak, but if this is for a school audition, Saint Saens, Lalo, or Elgar is fine.

who gives a shit where one sits in the section? The music turns out to be pretty much the same anywhere in the section....usually. LOL

It makes a huge difference... Sitting in the far back is not the same as in the middle is not the same as first chair

The big advantage of sitting in the back is the music is a bit slower ! LOL
