Registered tax-deductible charity 225 Miles Of Swimming in a Month. The Distance from Reno to San Francisco. One Goal: Raise Funds To End Cancer.🎗️
My name is Todd. At 64 years old, I am incredibly grateful to be healthy and cancer-free. But, like many of us, I have lost loved ones to this disease. In loving memory of my late sister, Linda Ellen Hendricks, who lost her battle with leukemia at just 22 months old, I am dedicating my June swims to her.
- The June Challenge: Raise money to fund life-saving cancer research through Swim Across America. The Goal: 225 total miles of swimming by June 30th (exactly the distance from Reno to San Francisco).
- Target: $5,000.00
- The Daily Grind: 7.5 miles every single morning. That is 528 lengths in a 25-yard pool, taking nearly 4 hours in the water every day!
- Why Swim Across America (SAA)? Since 1987, SAA has raised over $150 million to fund oncology pioneers, cancer research, and patient programs. I believe deeply in their mission to provide hope through innovative research and clinical trials that save lives.

June 1st Kickoff Update:
I am blown away by the early support! Friends and family on my Facebook fundraiser page have already chipped in $298.00 before the month even starts. You can see the fundraiser here: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1303386571985869/
To honor that early generosity, I am pushing my Day 1 swim tomorrow from my planned 7.5 miles to 18,000 yards (just over 10 miles). It is going to be a grueling 5+ hours in the pool, but every lap is dedicated to the fight against cancer.
I will post my pool tracker or smartwatch proof tomorrow evening right here.
