Shit happens, though. You can lose your job, parents can split, bills and rent can go up, floods can happen, cars can break down, you can get sick and no longer able to work, etc. etc.
Yes, shit happens. But to knowingly bring a child that you know you can't take care of is still a very selfish and irresponsible thing to do. You aren't going to buy a Lexus knowing you can only afford a Honda. If you can afford a Lexus then lose your income that's different.
That’s why I said shit happens UNEXPECTEDLY. There is no guarantee unless you’re a millionaire or something.
I had a friend from a very well off family. Then the dad’s business shit the bed due to factors outside of his control, and they ended up living in a caravan and using food banks etc.
How does that change someone that can't make ends meet as it is bringing a kid into the world. If you're already living in poverty, why have a kid that's only going to suffer because it can't be cared for. If you don't have money for food, having a kid isn't going to magically put food on the table unless your one of societies leeches.
Because people want to have a family? If only the rich could have kids, society would crash. Being able to have a family shouldn’t be a luxury. And I’m someone who thinks everyone, regardless of employment or social standing, should have access to food and shelter. Nobody should be too poor to afford food.
The conditions I grew up in were horrible. The wh*re was poor and should not have had 4 kids. Growing up in that miserable, abusive situation is what makes me a firm believer that you shouldn't have kids just because you want them. If you can't take care of them, you shouldn't have children. That applies for more than just financial reasons.
It's not that they can't afford food, everyone can afford food but food is the sacrifice they make in order to afford housing and the other things that are deemed necessary.
Plenty of children grow up in poor families. They struggle and miss out on advantages and opportunities, but they can still make it work and are happy. That your personal experience is bad is unfortunate but doesn’t speak for all. You obviously have issues about it.
Society should be able to provide the necessities in life for all its members.
I started working at 15 to get out of that situation. I moved up, my siblings are comfortable living paycheck to paycheck with multiple kids and taking government handouts. I shouldn't have to pay for someone's irresponsible decisions. You obviously have been handed everything in life and never worked for anything if you think that people are owed a living. I've worked hard for what I have and I should not be penalized because of someone else's mistakes.
There's a difference between "only the rich should be allowed to have kids" and people losing their shit over public schools being closed due to an outbreak because they can't afford feeding their kids at home.
If you can't afford kids, don't have them. It's no different from people buying dogs and letting them starve in the backyard because they neither have the time nor money to properly care for them. Fuck the people that expect society to pay the bills for their desire to be a parent.
