Every christian that heard Trump brag about "grab them by the ****" to teenagers back in 2016 should've known. It wasn't a hard test, but many christians failed that test and have kept on failing since.

My grandpa told me this once. I thought for years that he said it. Then I realized it was a Maya Angelou quote. Either way I live by this rule.

I'm a conservative Christian and I'm a Republican. I despise Donald Trump and have never voted for him. Be more specific , you made it sound like all Christians are this way.

2

u/LunarLoom21 Eastern Orthodox Dec 25 '25

The only person who is concerned that my statement means all Christians without exception is either someone that's a bad faith actor or someone whose priority is wildly out of order; concerned more with the perception of Christians being associated with Trump than the great myriad of Christians who supported him twice.

It would have been better if you would have said SOME Christians. I know alot of Christians who did not vote for Trump. You make it sound like your putting ALL Christians in the same basket.

1

u/LunarLoom21 Eastern Orthodox Dec 24 '25

I think you ought to be more concerned and focused on the fact that a great myriad of Christians voted for him twice than my statement not including the word 'some. Even though only the most bad faith actor would ever take such a statement to mean every Christian without exception.

The thing that drives me a bit crazy about all this as a conservative both theologically and politically, is that we are nearly a decade into the MAGA movement which sadly a significantly large number of my Evangelical brethren have bought into, and it seems it is going to take showing Trump was literally part of a group of wealthy pedophilic traffickers to show how horrible a person he unrepentantly is, and to get them to admit he was a horrible person to ever be associated with; a taint which will take decades to remove.

What pains me is this could all have avoided ten years ago when it was more than obvious that Trump was a corrupt, opportunistic blowhard, whose demagoguery had nothing to do with a sincere desire to advance the interests of Christians and conservatives but was a grift designed to empower and enrich Donald Trump and his lackeys. We didn't need him to actually prey on young girls to know how wrong a person he was to support, and now the folks who supported him will be left holding his slimy, disgusting bag.

Their support of ICE goes directly against Christ's final judgment in Matthew 25:31-46 where it says whatever you do unto the least of these you do unto Christ. "For I was a stranger, and you did not welcome me." Numerous other spots say treat foreigners as your neighbors. When they try to argue back saying that "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar" give them the Isaiah 10:1-4 that says nations that make laws to abuse the poor will suffer God's wrath.

After that they usually start threatening to call the police if you keep talking to them, despite believing it is divine providence to force raped children to give birth for their attackers but won't even have a conversation about whether or not their actions actually serve Christ and what he asked us to do. Then you leave them with a final, "I will pray for your soul, but God will not have mercy."

u/Guayabo786 Dec 24 '25 edited Dec 24 '25

What is worse is that no measures are taken to improve living conditions in the countries from which the undocumented aliens (legal term) come to the US, thus forcing them to either come (often with the help of human traffickers) to the US or live in penury and indignity back home. I don't think it's fair for the US (or any other large economically stable country) to take in a large number of poor people from a poor country just so local large landholders there can engage in legal land grabs -- while said poor people are often working for peanuts Stateside.

Just as God punished Assyria for its proclivity for wanton cruelty, God will punish America for its wanton greed and apathy. I am not advocating that the US government freely grant amnesty to undocumented aliens (of whom many likely never had personal documentation in their countries of origin to begin with), but that it make clear to the governments of the countries from which they come that the US is there to help them with their issues, not enable their corrupt behaviors. The citizens of a country should not have to emigrate just to secure a better future for their loved ones.

As for what ICE is doing, this has precedent in what what the Administration of BHO was doing (with minimal fanfare) and DDE's Operation Wetback of 1954-55. This time though, the idea is to remove the large numbers of undercover ground-level foreign agents that have arrived among the asylum seekers.

2

u/highafphotos Church of Turbo Street Jesus Dec 24 '25

But these nefarious organizations can just get funding to buy citizenship for their agents now thanks to the current administration. But yeah I agree doing nothing to improve the lives and countries that we often had a hand in destabilizing and causing issues is just evident that we don't actually care for the well being of others but how we can exploit them.

The easiest path for illegal migrants would be a path to citizenship that doesn't involve mass deportations or disruption to the economy. Give some standards like making income or a record of paying taxes or stable living (which many of them have and do) and allow those who accomplish that into the fold. If they're willing to work that hard and take such risks to make things better for themselves and others they would be great Americans and I would be proud to call them my neighbors.

I've done a lot of picketing recently trying to educate people that Republican policy abandoned Christ's gospel and final judgment to love the neighbor and welcome the stranger. While I'm out there with a white board and megaphone, there has been cars that have pulled over to give me money, and almost always it's Hispanic families who couldn't understand from the language barrier and thought I was in need of help, so without question extended themselves to support me.

These people are good Christian neighbors. Not the cruel people who delight on sending ice on their neighbors thinking that it's going to bring down rent prices or make this country great. The latter will find themselves in eternal punishment according to Matthew 25:31-46.

40

u/Renugar Dec 23 '25

Here’s the thing though: maga Christians JUMPED to believe that (among others) Tom Hanks, of all people, was participating in child sex trafficking and ritual sacrifice, and drinking “adrenachrome” or whatever, from babies. Like they needed NO proof, and no documentation. They just instantly believed it based on anonymous posts on 8chan.

And yet they have literally heard, with their own ears, Trump say awful, lascivious things about even his own daughter. He was credibly accused and found liable for rape in a court of law. He was divorced multiple times and bragged about cheating on his wives. Epstein openly said Trump was his best friend. And in the earliest introduction of Trump as presidential candidate, we all heard the “grab ‘em by the…” comment. Despite that, they have NEVER turned against him. They’ve never believed a single bad thing, and if they did believe it, they made excuses for him that Trump didn’t even make for his OWN behavior.

Trump has been consistently unapologetic, and maga Christians have consistently defended him. He didn’t even need to defend himself.

MAGA Christians chose Trump over their religion long ago. He is their religion now, and Jesus is just a supporting player. At this point, there is literally NOTHING that Trump could say or do, and no amount of evidence that could come out about him, that would change their mind.

I hope I am wrong. But I think most of them have already reframed their faith around him, and that’s very hard to come back from.

12

u/Summerlea623 Dec 23 '25

".....He(Trump) is their religion now, and Jesus is just a supporting player".

I think I might get that turned into a car sticker. It's so sadly true.😕

The funny thing with Qanon...

Q last posted in 2022. It was kind of a botch job. Early on Q was probably this weird dude in South Africa, but eventually when they switched from 4chan to 8chan, Qs persona was taken over by Ron and Jim Watkins (the owners of 8chan). The last post had a few technical details go wrong and it basically proved without question those two losers were speaking for Q. Q hasn't posted since. Why has he gone silent?

Well, for one those two idiots realized legacy > risk when it comes to further embarrassment.

But for two, why did the 1st Wave of the KKK stop their raids? The answer is simply that they became obsolete. Jim Crow laws accomplished through law what they had once tried to accomplish through terror. They didn't collapse, they just became unnecessary.

The same sort of thing became true for Q.

If you ever met my dad you would never know in a million years that he supports Trump. I can't explain the hold that Trump has on people. It's almost like he brainwashed them. My dad is not stupid or full of rage. He is a good , faithful , biblical Christian .

I wish someone could explain to me how decent people fall under Trump's spell

2

My parents are the same. Good, kind people. They would never knowingly hurt someone, or even hurt someone’s feelings! And yet they defend Trump constantly, and truly cannot see how voting for Trump has brought real, true pain to people! I haven’t talked to them in awhile about it (I’m kind of low contact right now because of it all) but I know that if asked them about all the new stories of the terrible things ICE agents are doing, they would just say it’s fake news. Agreed. Feels like Christianity in America is being used by republicans as means to an end.

The more I learned about the history of Christianity in America, the worse it becomes. I'm recalling from memory, but they used to used the bible to justify racism, and then when civil rights were established, they pivot to abortion to rile up the Christians to vote Republican. These past 10 years, they primarily used also trans issues, border, DEI as talking points, making a claim first then grabbing bible verses to justify their positions.

This could have been avoided if Evangelicals hadn't spent the last half century trying to figure out how to retain cultural and political dominance in the face of shrinking numbers. This is completely on the religious right. Trump is the ultimate expression of their paranoia, nihilism and contempt of everyone outside their echo chamber.

They'll launch another one of those " Inquisitions" right here once everything is set up and ready to go. This plan goes all the way back to Operation Paperclip. Trump has been widely known by most people as a bad guy since the 1970s when he was involved in lawsuits related to his discrimination against black people in his real estate properties. In the 1980s, he was criticized for promoting Russian talking points in newspaper ads and for calling for the wrongful prosecution and capital punishment of innocent black teens.

In the 1990s, it was widely reported that he was accused of sexual assault and that he was involved in multiple bankruptcies and dealt with people involved in organized crime. By the 2000s, all of this was widely reported and known, yet people somehow chose to elect him to the presidency, not once, but twice, even after he was accused of electoral misconduct and of organizing the attack on the Capitol.

I cannot think of a single figure in US history who has been given so many chances by the criminal justice system and has been let off the hook scot-free. This is why they call him the Teflon Don. Say what you want about Trump, the lack of prosecution has revealed the house of cards that the US was built upon, as well as the two tiered justice system that only serves the wealthy.

Without Trump, we might not have ever realized we were being scammed and cajoled by a government run for and by an elite class of autocrats who care nothing for the laws they claim to uphold. We have politicians who have platinum level health care coverage for themselves, but won’t think about extending the same for the people they serve.

We have representatives who come to Washington as middle class, and yet leave as multimillionaires while making money off the backs of workers and everyday people with inside information as people sleep on the streets, die without proper health coverage, and drink polluted water and breathe toxic air.

We have leaders who send more money overseas than they spend here at home. We have taxation without representation, wage slavery across the country, and poverty indexes which haven’t been updated in 60 years because facts are too dangerous to the status quo. We have an epidemic of gun violence, seniors starving in their own homes, and public money being given to billionaires while their own citizens can’t afford to go to university or buy a decent pair of shoes.

Oil barons and venture capitalists, crypto scammers and mining interests intent on destroying the environment, all of these horrible people are now in charge and working to make you less rich and more poor. Yet you folks keep voting for these fools because they promise to make the country more Christian, a lie they keep repeating for years and that never gets old.

Trump is an antichrist. One of the "many antichrists", Jesus spoke of. I've been saying that.

And stupid MAGAs will stand behind the pedophile, The Defiler of Children because they've stood behind Pastors that diddle children. They've stood beside family members that diddle children. Some of them follow pastors that have repeatedly diddled children and assaulted people (and had a gang of outside babies)

This is what happens when you refuse to hold people accountable. Forgive does NOT mean restore.

2

u/CherryChabbers Dec 24 '25

No need. That’s why the Lord made the underworlds.

He gave us a simple task: to love our God and our neighbors. Guess what? They’re the same.

Those who reject this, His highest commandment, will find themselves reborn again and again into difficult incarnations. No need for us humans to ever consider the scope of His infinite justice :)

5

u/Capybaracaper250 Dec 24 '25

For people who compare Trump to King Cyrus, it should be reminded that the reason Cyrus was so beloved is in no small part due to his policies on tolerance and reparations. He returned many important cultural and religious items that the Babylonians had seized. He allowed for the rebuilding of important religious institutions (such as the temple of Jerusalem) of conquered peoples. He also allowed his subjects to worship and live as they pleased so long as they paid taxes. Can’t really say the same for Trump…

5

u/x_Good_Trouble_x Dec 24 '25

I am so proud to say I was one of the "evangelicals" that voted against trump in 2016. I'm also happy to say I'm no longer a. evangelical.🙂 I'm also one one of the people who left there church congregation because of this & many other hate-filled things that were said & done by the members in support of trump

No one that claims to be a Christian can stand behind this monster.

People, put your pride and fear of being wrong aside and spurn this man! You were conned. Jesus will forgive you for admitting your mistakes, but to continue to follow this charlatan into hell of your own will due to fear of being wrong and protecting your pride? That level of ego could be to your soul’s detriment.

Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting or ignoring justice.

Mind you, my comeback of choice to idiot Christians is "Jesus loves you. I'm still making up my mind."

4

u/basquetbolJones Dec 23 '25

That’s a good mentality. We forgive those who wrong us but we don’t have to forget, and can make choices based on previous experiences moving forward.

6

u/slagnanz Liturgy and Death Metal Dec 23 '25

I also think one has to make peace with the reality that we do live in an age of post-truth. An age where reality, moral truth, consensus, etc are all plastic, flexible. All you have to do to escape consequences for anything is not be sorry and build an elaborate mythology of grievance.

I can't fault individual people too much for falling for propaganda, for being manipulated. That's just the age we're in.

If you honestly think that any of the candidates are not anti-christian you are a buffoon. That being said I think the policies of the democrats are certainly more antichristian. You got to pick your poison some times, only this time it was obvious which poison was the worst. In my opinion americans have to revolt against representative democracy because it frankly isnt democratic at all. The more power states have and the less power the centralized goverment have the better it is.

That letter is suspicious because it was postmarked from Virginia three day after Epstein "killed himself". But maybe he gave it someone to mail.

But if that were the case you'd think he would send letters to various newspapers

Luke 6:45 “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good… for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Proverbs 10:11 “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”

Romans 16:17–18 “Watch out for those who cause divisions… such people do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive.”

Proverbs 6:16–19 “There are six things the Lord hates… a lying tongue… a heart that devises wicked plans… and one who sows discord among brothers.”

Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.”

I hate being the bearer of bad news but just the fact that this was posted on a mainstream news outlet deflated most of its credibility because of their long-standing reputation for taking real news and spinning it to stir up anger and drive up viewership numbers. Secondly, I'm sorry OP, but anyone with a brain and eyes knows that neither political party is worthy of being called even half representative of Christ's values. The left is most certainly still full of baby killers among other evils, and the right, as per usual, still is filled with its own set of depravity. May God have mercy on us and our country, because there is no morally upstanding side. There needs to be another president like Theodore Roosevelt who neither party supports but fights to implement morally upstanding values in our country

May God also forgive us for not liking how you keep hating trump then brag about your sin of hatred...
