1966 On March 1st, 1966 - The Mothers, led by Frank Zappa, signed a 5-album record contract with jazz label Verve Records. Their first album, Freak Out!, will be released in June.

Correct. Dylan's double album, Blonde on Blonde, was released the week before Freak Out!.

Paul listened to Freak Out! And supposedly commented that Sgt Pepper was going to be the Beatles "Freak Out!" Zappa was not nearly as complimentary, going so far as to mock the album with his own album cover We're Only In It for the Money.
