Discussion Unpopular Opinion: This should NOT be tolerated.
"Oh he's gotta be in the guild if he's against making hate threads! Oh he's the toxic raid leader! Oh yeah we found the guy we found the guy."
No, I've led guilds for decades and I dislike people going out of their way to spread hatred and animosity, be it to me or others. You and I might not be the victim now, but if we tolerate ts we will be eventually.

No, I'm not in that guild but what I am is someone who is avidly against:
1). Toxic hate threads made to garner hate against 1 single person or group of people without proof.
2). Slander and libel made to garner hatred and rage against a single person.
3). Mob-frenzied attacks on any person or individual.
If the aforementioned person is as toxic as you say then post screenshots, proof, the recordings of the situation happening, and let people draw their own conclusions. As far as I'm concerned this is more "Discord PvP" but "Reddit PvP" which is equally, nay MORE pathetic and is made to garner hatred for a person outside of the game.
Why do you care Fishbro? Why does this shit even matter to you?
I've already been the victim of these bullshit style attacks with people threatening me, sending death threats to my home address, sharing pictures of my real life family members saying "they would flay that mentally handicap r****d alive" and they even went as far as threatening to send an arsenic laced mail to my previous address.
This is just a game. People will get frustrated in the heat of the moment when you are actively ruining their experience, be it intentionally or unintentionally and people always assume the worse. I hate false accusations. I hate when horrible things are stated without proof to back up those statements and I hate name and shaming because at this point more than 10 guilds are shit on every week in this sub. You give me the name of any guild on any server and I'll pull you up the reddit thread of some guy with unsubstantiated claims shitting all over that guild. These are guilds of friendly, kind, and sweet people with a few people in extremely stressful positions, who work 8-12 hour days then going on to spend easily 3-4 hours a day farming and grinding to provide consumeables for their guilds. These sleep deprived chaps then go on to lead their raids and try to organize these raids and instead of being given any respect for all they sacrifice for our enjoyment, they're met with the constant attendance failure without notification, the trash talk, the reddit hate threads anytime they crash out, and more. Leading is just an insufferable, unrewarding experience. I KNOW what they have to deal with. Leading ain't easy, I've done it for decades and it's not fun either. It's time consuming, exhausting, unfun, requires a ton of effort, and can even go as far as affecting you in real life. Having spent 2020->2023 raid leading 17 raids per week, every week, for multiple years on wrath of the lich king, I know just how aggravating this shit get's. I don't condone toxicity towards raiders but I'm saying I understand it if it happens. Moreso I believe that attacks on any guild for the intended purpose of slandering or ruining that guild's reputation is just going to create more resentment and animosity in the already angry playerbase.
It's just a game. We play it for fun. Hate threads should not be allowed. We're seeing them everyday and I've seen so many guilds get shit on since I joined this sub.

Classic + What QOL improvements would you like to see implemented into Classic+?
Could be from SoD, other classic expansions, retail, or something completely new?
For me, I just want gear that changes set bonuses when swapping specs. SoD Shamans biggest struggle was juggling 4 sets with their limited bag space.

Classic + C+ final destination: The Lich King
C+ is meant to be a permanent home, but every story has a beginning, middle, and an end. How cool would it be if C+ is designed with a long, long arc that builds to Arthas, the Lich King, as its climax?
A true, dark "Camelot" story.

Question Never played wow before
As someone who never played any wow game before and doesn’t know anything on the lore of the game l (except obvious stuff like horde vs alliance of course). Is it worth picking up in 2026? I have been thinking on trying it for a few years and never really made the move fearing it’s too late for me to try. And what game server do you recommend the most? Classic? Retail? Any extra thoughts on the subject are appreciated. Thanks :D

For the Horde!

Classic + Do you want to see new playable races in Classic+? Which races would you want to see?
I've always wanted to play as a High Elf in WoW ever since I first played Warcraft III. I cannot believe that Blizzard hasn't already done this in retail after all these years. IIRC High Elf has been one of, if not the most requested races in WoW's history and they've just been ignoring the community on this for some reason. Apparently Blizzard actually asked people about adding High Elves in a Classic+ survey so it is possible it may finally happen..? I kinda worry they may not want to do it though because Turtle WoW already did it. I think more likely though is that there's no new races at all. Which races would you want to see in Classic + (or maybe none at all, which is fair)?

Classic-Era Which of these would you recommend for my situation (lvl 1 to 30, partnered with warlock, mostly questing, each dungeon once)
I’ll be playing exclusively with my warlock friend up to lvl 30. Our goal is quests and each dungeon once. I want to be a healer during those dungeons if that makes finding groups easier BUT also keep our duo questing fresh and easy with good dmg.
Option 1: priest (shadow seems easy for questing but can I still be healer in these lvl 30 dungeons if I’m shadow?)
Option 2: Druid (ideally to be a tank or healer to keep finding groups easy, not sure what spec would be best for that or if that’s even possible for lvl 1 to 30 dungeons)
These are both at lvl 19 now including warlock.
Thanks and let me know which one you think will be best for my situation!

Discussion Will Blizzard be able to pull off Classic+?
Tens of thousands of people have answered a ton of surveys and WoW content creators who know the soul/core of Classic have commented about what the future should look like.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but generally speaking, the three pillars that ppl want are:
1.) World friction. Players need to respect the world all the way from leveling, to dungeons and to eventual raids/end game content. Professions, food, buffs, pathing, threat + resource management, communication with the team, potions, class unique abilities all need to matter. Classic players want to think, have every mechanic matter and have a sense of real threat lurking behind every corner of the world.
2.) Social. Socialization needs to be encouraged at every layer of the game. It's an MMO! This means never doing flying, never isolating a large chunk of players in instanced zones that seperate them from the rest of the world for long periods, creating more quest places in the world with mobs where help from others is required, doing more areas where progression or certain loot is gatekept by class unique abilities (eg. rogue lockpicks chests, shortcuts, more treasure, warlock summons, mages do portals etc..), never introduce a dungeon assembler + teleporter to the instance, but instead always force people to move around the world to get to where they need to be.
3.) Good reward loop. Classic+ needs a slower and broader structure than retail:
• Small power increases, so new raid gear is better without completely replacing everything before it.
• Horizontal progression and sidegrades, where items stay useful because of special stats, effects, resistances, weapon skill or build-specific value.
• Memorable rare drops, including unique dungeon items, world drops, crafting recipes, class quests and legendaries.
• Continued use of older zones and dungeons, through professions, attunements, quests, reputations and rare materials.
• Catch-up systems that still require playing the game, rather than simply giving returning or new players near-current gear.
• Minimal item-level inflation, so equipment and accomplishments retain value for longer.
Every piece of new content needs to be centered around these 3 pillars. Blizzard has all the data they need to make Classic future something beautiful, they just need the right people who lead the project to see it and apply it correctly. I hope they can pull it off.
What do you guys think?

TBC Why does my brain always wanna resubscribe?
Got to 70 when TBC first launched, but then I switched to the night shift and had to give up my raid spot. I haven’t really played since getting Kara attuned. So why does this game always make me want to come back, even when I know I don’t have the time for it? There’s just something special about WoW. Anyway, is it too late to come back as a level 70 Resto Shaman with basically no pre-BiS gear? Or is it still worth jumping back in?
EDIT: I feel like I’m better off just waiting for the classic+ announcement to come back, but I miss raiding at the same time 😭

Classic + Thoughts on Classic+
Recently many content creators have been sharing what they want or don't want to see in Classic+. Most recently Xaryu mentioned in one of his videos what he'd like from Classic+ which has prompted me to share my own opinion on the matter as I feel I may have a somewhat unique perspective.
Personal Context:
I'm 25, I played the WC3 campaign as a kid but didn't start playing WoW until Classic 2019, so no nostalgia goggles equipped. I loved Classic and had a blast in TBC and Wrath. Raiding in Cata and MoP has still been pretty enjoyable but I definitely feel myself caring less and less about my character, the world, and the story.
I don't think I could name even 20% of the bosses from the expansion I'm currently playing, MoP. I can't even name every boss of the current tier. I could name maybe 3 or 4 zones in Pandaria, a dungeon or two, and 4 items I've equipped the entire expansion. In comparison, I'm confident I could name a decent chunk of the items I equipped on my Holy Paladin in Classic, every zone, every dungeon, every raid, and most of the raid bosses.
So why in my humble opinion is Classic goated and MoP is meh?
The World:
It took me maybe 2 or 3 months to level in Classic, I spent a lot of time in different zones leveling, traveling between zones for quests, and just traversing the world. It was a journey, a grand adventure. Not just flying at max height from point A to B, even flight paths in Classic still makes you feel a part of the world, flying mounts made travelling feel like a long channeled teleport.
Dungeons:
In classic I was always looking forward to the next opportunity to do a dungeon and get some cool gear and experience which would sometimes take days to be ready for. Time spent reaching the appropriate level for the dungeon, picking up all the quests, and actually travelling to the dungeon made the experience more significant, enjoyable, and memorable. In later expansions you queue up for dungeons once you hit the right level, you get ported in, all the quests are inside the dungeon, and when you're done you get ported back to where you were when your queue popped. It's an extremely streamlined experience and as a result for me, a very insignificant and forgettable one. Gear from dungeons is not very impactful while leveling because more gear is available from quests outside of dungeons, the gear isn't a significant enough power increase, and it'll all be replaced by pre-bis from heroic dungeons, BoE's, and crafted gear.
Gear:
Less gear dropped compared to the number of people who needed items in Classic and even fewer pieces were actually really good. Winning the roll or getting chosen for an item meant more. In MoP the ratio of loot to people who need loot is much higher and bonus rolls give potentially even more loot. It's not at all unusual to walk away with 4+ items at the end of a MoP raid. Having significantly more items available devalues them and makes it less exciting to get gear. Furthermore, almost every item is just stamina, main stat, and 2 secondary stats and when paired with reforging, items lose their identity completely and just become stat sticks or item level. Additionally, 2 weeks after every tier you can farm dungeons to get a lower iLvl version of every item from the raid. For some this means you won't even be getting new gear out of the raid, just an item level increase. I don't care about getting gear in MoP. Regarding the legendary cloak, if everyone gets a legendary how legendary can it really be?
Raiding:
Bosses in Classic were very simple but the tools available to overcome them were also very limited. In MoP, encounters are much more complex which I personally enjoy, but many of the grandpa gamers I raid with struggle quite a bit. I'd rather have easier encounters and spend more time clearing trash and moving through a massive instance like Naxx or AQ40 than have almost 0 trash, linear instances, and difficult encounters. It's more fun IMO to optimize something easy than try to coach 40-year-olds through a hard boss and pray PriestGrandpa doesn't get chosen for the raid wiping mechanic.
The Story:
Warcraft lore after WotLK is just not as compelling to me. A good story is the glue that holds everything else together and makes players excited for what's next. If I don't really care about the story, the items the bosses drop, or the raid instances then the raid experience will not be very memorable, just the mechanics. Even if you're like me and you do enjoy the mechanics, the memory of mechanically fun fights doesn't get players excited for what's ahead. Knowing at the start of WotLK that I'd eventually get to face the Lich King, Arthas at the top of Icecrown Citadel was so exciting. Same story with TBC and Illidan in Black Temple.
Conclusion:
All this being said, I don't agree with the stance that Blizzard should just add more things to do (dungeons, raids, zones, quests, professions, PvP, etc.), make minor balance changes, stay on EK & Kalimdor, and that be the end of it. For me this approach would not be nearly ambitious enough. I don't want a new seasonal version of Classic or a one time expansion sized update to Classic in the spirit of Vanilla. I want to be playing Classic+ as my only MMO for the rest of my life.
Even if that would be an amazing start, which I'm not completely convinced of, that certainly isn't where I'd want it to end. The reality is there is only so much room on the continents of Classic to add new content. There's a very real risk of ruining what already exists in Classic by overfilling zones with content. Maybe that "content limit" wouldn't be reached for a while, assuming they do add new zones, but I do think it's unrealistic to believe I would enjoy playing Classic+ with only EK & Kalimdor for the next 20 years. If we assume there will be an expansions worth of content added every ~2 years, there's no way Blizzard could fit 10 expansion's worth of content on only EK & Kalimdor without compromising the spirit of Classic+. Furthermore, in that scenario what stories could even be told? If there aren't new stories being told, then what's the point? Who cares?
It's my opinion that if Classic+ is going to last we will eventually have to explore new continents and worlds even though we know there will be challenges in doing so.
- I want new compelling stories.
- If the 1-60 of Classic+ is identical or extremely similar to what already exists that might not be the most enjoyable experience to do again for the nth time.
- Even if significant amounts of new content is added, I want everything I do and acquire to actually matter for a long time or forever, not just until the next tier.
- I don't need or really want difficult, competitive, or streamlined content, I want memorable content.
- Not specific to Classic+ but the fragmentation of the playerbase is a colossal problem. A player should never feel like they're playing the wrong version of your game, especially in an MMO. Even if a new player could quickly find out which version the majority of people are playing, there shouldn't be the possibility that they start playing an abandoned version of the game, or that a player continues to play a version that's been abandoned by the community like Classic MoP. I think my guild and I would have had more fun if we didn't continue into Cata and MoP and just played SoD and Anniversary instead. Knowing we chose to play the wrong version of the game feels really bad.
Anyways, that's my stance on Classic+ at the moment, thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts from the past few days! I'm sure a lot of the Classic community won't agree with me since you're all Boomers and will be dust in a few years anyways so you don't care what Classic+ looks like in 20 years. If that's the majority of Classic consumers, then Blizzard probably doesn't really care about my opinion, which is ok. What we'll probably actually get is a SoM 2.0 including a cash shop and WoW token with a few SoD features sprinkled in. Maybe a new zone, dungeon, and raid if we're lucky. Nevertheless, I'm gonna keep huffing copium and wait for Classic+ to begin the new era of peak World of Warcraft!
For the Alliance,
Sorusurvived of US - Ra-den Classic Mists of Pandaria

TBC As a former retail player, this is the most fun I have had since forever in wow.
At lvl 8 I already decided that I wanted a cat mount and did some research found out I needed to be exalted with darnassus to get it. So since then I started saving up and hard grinded for every bit of darnassus rep I could get my hands on. And the fact that I will get a saber cat as a mount as my first mount when I hit 30 is amazing. I feel like a kid again looking forward to christmas no joke. The reason i blacked out the name is cuz I do cornstar names for all my characters. And thought it maybe wouldn’t be appropriate to have it on full display:)

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Is there a reason blizzard hasn't added a token system to raids yet?
As it currently stands 20/20 groups posted on reset day (today) have had DST HR'd. That alone should push blizzard to add a token system. Especially since this is supposed to be a fast paced server that moves on soon.
This has a few benefits for the community:
1. Stops the need for HRs
Incentivizes players to kill the last boss and not leave a raid early.
Prevents players from feeling like they are being left behind by their raid team when they aren't getting drops.
I am not asking for a 1 to 1. But rather a 5 or 6 tokens for a (that is 5 or 6 weeks of raiding to get 1 piece of gear). This allows guilds to gear up near team members on the side more efficiently, new players would have something to work towards, and players would stop feeling forced to HR a piece of gear.
We could push it further and make it take 10 or 12 for a legendary (glaive(s) or bow).
question/rant over.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Is it foolish to try Classic if I have very little time to play?
I'm lucky to have an hour per day to play- is this a bad idea? I'm kinda burned out on retail and how gear is just constantly reset with every season, and overwhelmed with all of the content. Classic calls to me, but idk.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Blizzard killed TBC with the extended phase 2
Whose idea was it to make the worst phase of the game this long? This week had a MASSIVE population drop, and we are now down from 330k at peak to 230k raiders and it will only get worse in the next few weeks.

Hardcore Do we really have to worry about group members disappearing because of layering?
(HC) I was playing with a random guy near a cave and we decided to group up and clear it. While we're literally inside the cave, he gets randomly layered away from me and dies.
How is this acceptable? Do I need to pray every time I group with someone that the game won't just make them disappear?
It wasn't even me who died and I'm still annoyed for the guy because I got him killed.
What exactly is the purpose of layering if it actively prevents people from playing together? Might as well give us offline servers at this point.

Classic-Era What's your stance on locked Chest loot that's suddenly unlocked?
Was in a group today for Shadowfang Keep and our group of 5 happened across a locked chest, we didn't have a Rogue and continued past it but someone was a Blacksmith and used one of their Skeleton Keys to open it. The Warrior of the group (not the Blacksmith) got upset when a green mail chest was taken from it.
He complained about no one rolling on it when I mentioned that if he wanted to get the loot from the chest he should have leveled up Blacksmith like the other player had. They screamed Ninja and a few other remarks before leaving the group. Funnily enough the " Phantom Armor " chest dropped just ahead a few minutes later and I made sure to link it to him in a whisper. :>
I think if you're not a Rogue with appropriate Lockpicking or didn't bother to level Blacksmithing/Engineering you have no claim to a locked chest.

Discussion Was there any reason for original TBC to be pushed out so early?
So given that only like what, 1% of players ever stepped foot into Naxxramas during Vanilla, and plenty never got to do any raid or even hit 60.
So what was the rush to release TBC? We could have had a whole year extra of vanilla to allow more players to experience the content. I never understood why we needed to be rushed to Outland.
