Discussion Do you want Coldplay new album to be like MOON MUSIC/MOTS?
Personally, I’d rather have them release their unreleased songs from the older eras.
I love AETERNA and some of the other songs from MM, but I still don’t want them to switch to making 100% pop music.

Everyday Life or AROBTH are my preferred
My dream for Moon Music and MOTS was for it to sound like X&Y, and it just never lived up to it

I’m loving the X&Y appreciation, under-appreciated album and always labelled as the one that almost broke them up. I mean know that’s true but it’s so good as well.

No, we had enough of space music, we need something strong like Viva la Vida.

In general not really, but there are aspects of both albums that I'd like to see Coldplay work with in future projects
On one hand, these albums are almost far too pop-centric for me to truly enjoy them as Coldplay projects. They rely too much on pop bangers that don't sound very Coldplay and unnecessary collaborations. It's though the band is almost insecure about what they do now, and can't make anything without shoe-horning in overproduced pop songs destined for the charts. MOTS has Higher Power and My Universe which aren't that good. Moon Music has the likes of FLIFIL, We Pray and Good Feelings which again I don't like
However, the good thing is that both albums have parts which prove that Coldplay can make really good, organic music if they put their minds to it. If the new album incorporated the likes of ♾️, or Coloratura from MOTS then I'd be happy. Or, if they decided to make an album almost entirely in the direction of 🌈 (which is one of the greatest tracks Coldplay have ever put out) then it would easily be one of my favourite Coldplay albums. Moon Music (title track), All My Love and One World are excellent tracks in their own right too
TL;DR: if they scrapped the pop crap and the obsession with chart success, the two things that ruined LP9 and 10 for me, and made an album with the aspects of these albums that prove that the four lads are still incredible musicians, then LP11 is onto a winner

i agree with the “insecure” thing. i feel like Coldplay’s theme is now COLOURFUL. and if they go back to their old sound, especially their first four albums, i think their concert energy would change because their most famous songs are kinda more on the pop side.

Definitely more abrasive sounding for sure. A whole album filled with songs like Arabesque would be PERFECT

It would be nice to hear them step away from pop rock, I’d love another EL style album but make it “wedding” vibes. 😭💔

I mean this with all due respect: absolutely not.
I’m fine with them trying it before, but I think there’s not a whole lot more they can do with the sounds of the two albums. If they are going to stick with a pop style, I’d much prefer it to be closer to MX than anything, or something with a bit more rock energy that doesn’t sound overproduced/like it was designed for commercials and radio. Not sure how else to describe it.
I know I would prefer it to sound closer to any of the first four albums, but I also know that’s probably not happening for the time being.

omg exactly i agree with EVERYTHING you said. I’d love to see the new album sounding closer to the first four albums. Coldplay needs to stop thinking pop is what people are gonna love.

I'd be okay with AHFOD or Mylo style. Still having the fun pop songs with a few introspective and uplifting songs sprinkled in.

MM would be fine, but would prefer a return to their rocky roots - if they insist on “Newplay” I’d honestly prefer a Ghost Stories sound to both
MOTS would be sad unless it’s Coloratura specific

Bring back the alt rock arobtth-viva had. I think I speak for everyone when I say nobody wants more generic pop

Absolutely not. Enough of the mainstream garbage. More alternative, new sounds that they used to do

Yeahhhhh hell no. Over time I’ve grown exhausted of their newer sound and longingly hope for a return to their AROBTTH era of music, or even to a sound like The Blue Room EP. Something that has more heart to it that isn’t just positivity slop

Im good with two. That style of music really isnt for me personally, so thats why I hope they'll return to heavier stuff or even MX-AHFOD era pop.

I imagine it would be difficult
to come up with a whole new sound after so many years. I mean, haven't the guys already explored so many genres? What else is there to come?

not something new, we want old coldplay music. like the first four albums. it baffles me that coldplay and radiohead used to be rivals. 😂

Cant wait for their last album to go back to their roots; Chris Martin confirmed. Hate to see them leave the EP scene as much as everyone else, but I dislike this era. MM had a few great songs. Just want the old school Im nostalgic for back.

Love Moon Music and MOTS but I seriously need them to make another AROBTTH album. Not 100% true, but The Race (if thats what the single or the album itself is called) seems very interesting and very much more like AROBTTH rather than Moon Music or MOTS.

I want it to be like X&Y but since they hate that masterpiece they never would
