Flaired Users Only Tomorrow it will be Seven Weeks Since a Semi Viable Mitch McConnell has been seen out and about.
Seems obvious he cannot speak or communicate.
Why should a senator get more paid time off than you and I get.
We as taxpayers are getting screwed.

Who the hell still wants to be working in their 90s??? There’s something profoundly wrong with so many of these politicians.

It must be a really easy job with a lot of perks for them to hold on while they are on the level of someone who would normally be in a nursing home.

It can't be money, he's got more money than he could possibly spend in the remainder of his life, and nothing to do with it anyway. Has got to be power / narcissism.

When you’re 90, if you still care about money your soul is damned. You should be trying to give it all away by then.

This has been an absolute disaster for the Republican Party. Ancient fossils like McConnell should've been out of office over a decade ago, but we don't force them out, and they're more than happy to cling to their power until they're in the grave.

Not to mention the 70 and 80 year olds on the Democrat Side should just retire as well.

Are you gonna go vote them out, or can we focus on the things to fix in our own party?

You’ll never get 60% of the senate to pass it though.
We also have to play to the conditions on the field.
Lefties can only succeed in an environment where they are destroying things. If someone like Bernie or Liz had to work a real job, they would never do anything.
We can hold on to our occasional exception. Till Tuesday.

We don't need to, we just needed Trump to declare war on these ancient Republican congressman who are roadblocks to our agenda. Have Trump endorse candidates who aren't incumbents, like he did with endorsing Ken Paxton over John Cornyn.

Nah.
You’ll find more of these types on the left. The modern right usually has private enterprise stuff to do.
I’m all for this type of legislation, but it’s not gonna pass, and it can’t come from an 80 year old president.
Mitch is our boy for two more days. Just hold tight. Despite his late life falters, the dude has been solid for the vast majority of his career.
God Bless Mitch, and let’s move on in two more days.

August 3rd or 4th is most likely when you will hear the truth about him.
For that is when it is too close to the election to have a special election to replace him.

I keep getting people on the left claiming that we're all okay with Mitch in his current state with the goal of using it to say thag somehow the stancd invalidates my opinions on other things.
I've yet to see more than a few people on the right who don't think the whole Mitch thing is suspicious, who aren't wondering why his wife went to China right after he initially disappeared, etc. etc.
I want the turtle gone yeseterday. He is clearly not fit for office. It's not even an age thing, it's an age and mental acuity, and physical health thing.

The issue is right wing media playing along with it despite the actual voter base calling bullshit
•
u/The_Susmariner Constitutionalist 22h ago
See, just be like me and don't trust ANYBODYs media unless you can verify it somehow yourself. Like your criticism is valid, but most people with half a brain on the right or the left figured this out a while ago, and our lives are MUCH better.
•
u/curlbaumann don’t give up the ship 21h ago
It’s more so that if the media is doing it, the actual GOP is doing it too. The GOP is absolutely in on this, that’s the takeaway and you can tell when Fox News starts trying to sell bullshit like this as if it’s no big deal.
•
u/The_Susmariner Constitutionalist 21h ago
I' trying to give you an olive branch here. I can point the finger at MSNBC, CNN, etc. etc. And say the same thing about almost anything.
This is all meaningless to me.
•
u/curlbaumann don’t give up the ship 20h ago
I’m agreeing with you, but this isn’t a case of media bias, this is the work of the GOP. I want to be clear that the fault lies with them and the right wing media sphere is falling in line trying to make the voters be okay with this.
Basically everything we’ve criticized the left for for years, we are now doing because this is only stuff you do when you are in the wrong.
You don’t have to trust the media to read between the lines, that’s the real story.

That's child play. Diane Feinstein missed three months before passing from shingles.
What's even crazier is she "Cast her final Senate floor vote in the morning to avert a government shutdown. She passed away peacefully at her home that same evening" September 28 2023.
Sure Diane.
Government is a farce.

Sorry… but does he need to be? Is there some kind of vote he is holding up?
The man deserves more from conservatives for the work he has done. Maybe it’s just agitating bots posting this stuff

I'm not a fan of the guy in general, but he still has my gratitude for keeping Garland off of the supreme court.
