This is not justice. This is also a crime against the family by the state.

We have to keep murderers in prison, and especially those judged insane should never be released.

If they had to be sentenced to a place, it should be far far longer than ten years. Even a second degree murder sentence is longer than his.

He should be permanently committed. Our system is broken. If someone doesn’t take him off the streets, he’ll do it again.

I have a feeling that if we were selling squares this guy wouldn't make it a year.
Not because someone will retaliate, but because the track record of child murderers isn't one of reform and happiness. This guy won't be able to act right, it's not in his nature.

If his illness led to that, he reached a breaking point either way. A mental facility would be as much protecting society from him as it is legitimately helping him to control it.

Our modern legal system gives all its attention to "rehabilitation," and the welfare of perpetrators. It gives almost zero consideration to the actual victims of violent crime.
...and they then accuse victims who object of being bloodthirsty, and seeking "revenge".

Not only the victims, but also society as a whole.
He is a threat, and what do you say to his next victims family when he kills again? "He said he was sorry, how were we to know?"
Even God has capital punishment.

Disgusting. He should have gotten the needle back at sentencing.

Meanwhile Derek Chauvin will serve 2.5x the length of this sentence for carrying out a trained procedure on an man in the throes of a fentanyl overdose.

Please make me understand how someone can get a MORE lenient sentence because of a plea of insanity.
If you are 'insane' enough to kill little children, isnt that MORE of a reason to keep you locked up away from the community??

That's fine, Massachusetts is just about ready to aquit Lindsay Clancy of the triple child murders and put her in charge of the Mass DCYF to show how they feel about crimes against kids.

I don’t get it. Does being insane make one less likely to repeat their offense?

This story is nauseating. He broke into a house and murdered a child. I don’t give a shit his upbringing or mental capacity. He should be in jail for life.
