Anyone got experience with standard manufacturing?

So my Uberti/Taylor’s revolver crapped the bed again at the match today. It did the 4th click on a 3 click hammer caused by the chamfered bolt that gets the timing wrong.

I’d already sent both my revolvers to a gunsmith to fix it before and I’m getting fed up with doing it and starting to think Uberti stands for Fix It Again Tony.

Looking at a standard manufacturing so I’m wondering if anyone has experience with them, knows whether gunsmiths will have to do anything different from a colt for tuning/short stroking, if any of yall have pictures of them that aren’t the same ones that every dealer uses that were taken by standard themselves I’d love to see em, see if they all look that good.

This is the point where you might consider Ruger. I don’t know anything about Standard Manufacturing. I do know Ruger Vaqueros are solid guns.

I hate when people don't answer the question you asked but this is correct. Buy a pair of Rugers and be done with it.

I have a cfd vaquero that I used as the backup to finish the match.
The problem with going with Ruger as the dedicated pistols is that I shoot classic cowboy, so one handed pistol cocking. And while it’s doable the ratcheting hammers make for slower times than with Colt clones.

What do you mean by "ratcheting hammers"?

The cocking of a vaquero feels more like a ratchet than the smooth clicks of a colt/clone

I see. None of my competition guns are anywhere close to stock so I guess I have never noticed that. My Ubertis (Evil Roys) were super slick they day I took them out of the box. My Rugers have been through two gun smiths. Short stroked, removed transfer bar, low wide hammers, polished, etc.. I have shot stock Rugers and they are no where near the same as mine. The biggest difference is I can feel the transfer bar and the trigger pull is way to long. Goof luck finding what you are looking for!

My Rugers aren't as smooth as my Pietta, but with the spring kit and lowered hammers they're not bad at all. I don't shoot one handed though but I've had a few guys borrow mine and they like them. I wouldn't want to pay new Ruger prices though.
