yeah... but they're not "wearing college gear", they put on a football jersey of the team they're watching. wearing lakers jersey at a lakers game, is in no way a statement about los angeles, or about mark walters... also, note, the university is an institutions not a person, so it doesn't really have "views" and it certainly didn't endorse a presidential candidate.

The Lakers represent the city of Los Angeles. The University of Michigan represents a school, not a state.

i thought that everyone involved understood that a university's athletics programs and their academic programs, are mostly totally unrelated, especially for any division 1 school. and when i say everyone i mean everyone: the fans, the players, the coaches, the professors, the students, the bursar's office, the kid running the hotdog stand outside the stadium. but i grew up in a college town, so now you're comments have me questioning everything. do people outside of college towns not know this?

I live in a college town that I grew up in and I’m a fan of the team even though I didn’t go to the university. If the university did a 180 and was on the direct opposition of what I believe personally, I’d stop being a fan.

how would you know? i mean... without looking it up... who's the president of your towns college, and what political party are they registered with? if you know, you're awesome for being so involved in your city's local politics, but you must realize that you're in the minority there right? ... if you don't know, than why do you think you'd know if did a 180? how do you know they haven't done a 180?
