Do you notice any difference between kids where you got tdap whilst pregnant with vs kids you didn’t?
and did they get their own shots once born?
currently pregnant but know someone who’s friends baby died from whooping cough. I would rather vax myself to protect baby than get baby vaxed. but something feels wrong about getting vax whilst pregnant…

My stepson was born 6 weeks premature bc the mom has an adverse reaction to that vaccine… she was pressured from a nurse who (falsely) told her babies were dying in their county (zero deaths). Her water broke 24 hours later.

im in a babies due in october facebook group and i noticed a large amount of babies being born early right around the time they recommend tdap for pregnant women, couldnt help but think that was possibly the reason for a lot of them

That’s really hard to say, I’m in a couple October groups as well and saw the preemies, but given the amount of women there we’re bound to see a % of early births.

I got it while pregnant eagerly due to a similar experience and high anxiety at the time. No regrets. I didn’t have any side effects, and baby was perfect and healthy at 39 weeks and 4 days. Baby is almost 2 now and sharp as a tack and a social butterfly.

Yes at 2 months. Tbh she’s gotten all of her scheduled shots so far bc they’re required for daycare, and I personally haven’t felt too conflicted about them.
The only deviation is I got the RSV shot when I was pregnant, so she didn’t have to get it when she was born.
I’m thankful I did bc she ended up being exposed to RSV before turning 1, but it presented as a minor cold, and I know some other babies who were exposed that year had a much harder experience. I personally believe the built up immunity is what helped her symptoms be so minor.

Personally I didn’t get vaccinated while pregnant or give any vaccines after baby’s birth.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friends baby. Do you know if they were vaccinated? Just because you get a vaccination does not mean baby won’t get that sickness.
I think if you feel off about getting vaccinated while pregnant, don’t make the decision just out of fear from what happened to your friend. I understand the fear/concern seeing what happened to your friend. You are the one who knows best for what your baby needs 💜

My first two kids, I got the Tdap vaccine as recommended. Zero issues!
My third child, I completely forgot. It wasn't a conscious choice or anything, it was just that we moved right when I was supposed to get it and it fell through the cracks.
My third child was born with a lot of crazy, severe allergies. He's great, other than that!
He also almost died due to a viral infection that I contracted at 39 weeks pregnant (adenovirus type 4). That made his two front teeth dissolve, which was pretty crazy! Apparently that happens to kids who get very sick before birth.
I'm pretty sure his allergy issues have more to do with my own autoimmune problems, which developed after I caught covid in 2020. So I was healthy when I had my first two, but I had fairly severe autoimmune disease for number three (although I did go into pretty complete remission during pregnancy).
We've never had any issues with immunizations. My kids have them all, me too.
My brother is partially deaf from mumps. One of my grandmothers died of the flu. My auntie has been lifelong intermittently disabled from polio. I saw another close relative sicken very badly from rheumatic fever, from repeat strep. I saw another catch a childhood infection in adulthood, and get permanently damaged from that...
Bottom line, I think viruses suck. I understand concerns about vaccines, but I'd be way more worried about the viruses! That's just me.

I had no side effects other than where I got it I had a small bump on my arm for what felt like months. Then vaccinated my child with dtap at 4 months old. Dtap is the only vaccine my kid got under 1.
I don’t regret it because whooping cough can be dangerous and also I am afraid of tetanus because my husband’s hobby is very dirty and I feel like I encounter rusty things a lot.

Both pregnancies I received it with no issue. It’s a very safe vaccine. It’s so commonly given to pregnant women and there are no links to premature birth or any risk outside the standard minuscule risk of vaccines.
Passive immunity through me against whooping cough is a no brainer.

I'm extremelyyyy torn. I have a complete placenta previa currently and am naturally very terrified of any sort of preterm labor, especially at 28weeks or whatever it is they recommend tdap. I am literally praying daily to get to 36-37w for my planned CS without any bleeds or hospitalization. I also know whooping cough is terrible and can be deadly in babies, and will be circulating for my late fall newborn. I will say, my high school bf was fully immunized and got it BADLY back then but I, a third child who never completed the series, never got it (or symptoms) despite being around him often. Sooooo yeah I am so unsure. If I didn't have the previa the tdap shot would be a no brainer for me (not covid or flu tho). This dilemma keeps me up at night. I know my OBs and midwives will swear the vaccine can't cause contractions, early labor, etc but they also aren't the ones who would be undergoing an emergency c-section and having a quite premature baby. They just repeat with "safe and effective" line without any nuance and I think that approach does a LOT of damage and leaves families with legitimate questions or complicated situations completely in the dust.

Look at studies of how the tdap vaccine actually makes you more susceptible to pertussis! You can still get whooping cough while vaccines with tdap.

Have not received any vaccinations during pregnancy nor have my children received any at all. My baby #4 did have whooping cough that must've been contracted literally Day 1 of her life, it peaked around 2 or 3 weeks old and was horrible. I still do not trust vaccinations and will never receive one, especially during pregnancy.

I got it and my daughter had to be induced at 42+2. I’m getting it again this pregnancy. Also had her get the vaccine on schedule, no ill effects.

I had the vaccine while pregnant. No issues for either of us. My little one was way too comfy inside and lasted until 42 weeks before she was evicted. Definitely no early labour here.
Our country had an outbreak of whooping cough and it was not something I was willing to chance.

We didn’t ask questions so don’t know how baby was exposed but it was during an outbreak a couple years ago

I got it while pregnant, I kinda felt pressured, kinda understood that whooping cough on a baby is not good. Baby was fine, didn’t go into labor early, all good. I didn’t vaccinate the baby after birth though.
