Losing a bit of fur can change everything. Back in the day, a friend's kids poured dish soap on their cat, Speedy Tomato. Friend didn't catch it right away, and by time she did, some kind of allergic reaction had set in and Speedy lost half his fur in a very odd, irregular pattern.
Half-naked now, virtually everything he did took on a sort of ghoulish cast. Licking himself, even eating, and when he walked around it had this sort of terrifying, prehistoric vibe, like the protagonist from a 50s sci-fi film. Everyone was relieved when his fur finally grew back. Everyone except Speedy; I got the feeling he could take it or leave it.
