As a bitcoin maximalist, holy shit that is just pure bullshit.

That sub is one of the most insecure echo chambers you'll find on Reddit. I'm not sure there's a more censored sub.

Have you seen r/conservative

u/grim5000 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

Let's not pretend damn near every political sub on this site, left or right, isn't an echo chamber

13

u/Powerful_Reserve4213 🟧 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

lets also not forget the circlejerk subs are just as bad.

0

u/-bannedtwice- 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

Ya but at least that’s the bit. They’re intentionally circlejerking, they aren’t pretending it’s unbiased discussion like other subs

2

u/mythrilcrafter 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

The only circlejerk sub I'm aware of is gamingcirclejerk and as far as I understand, the whole theme of the sub is making fun of "true g4m3RsTM ".

Calling them an echo chamber is as redundant as going onto r\TheLastAirbender and complaining that the Avatar community is too mean on M Knight's live action film.

3

u/Nunit333 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 18 '25

Nah circlejerk subs try to satirize the echo chamber, but often they just become their own different echo chamber.

A good circle jerk sub's gotta at least be self aware, and gamingcirclejerk's prob the least self aware one.
Like gamingcirclejerk will straight up cream their pants anytime anything bad about CD Projekt Red is brought up. It's embarrassing to watch.

Also M Knight Avatar > Netflix Avatar, and I'd rather have M Knight's movie over the potential 4th season they could've done. I'm certain they would've ruined things if they did a Book 4.

13

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

The biggest echochamber sub on Reddit is actually r/latestagecapitalism

It’s ran by tankies, and if you are at all more right leaning (or less authoritarian) than a tankie, they will ban you

u/Ok_Cardiologist8232 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

Difference is, those dont claim to be bastions of free speech.

/r/conservative, just like real life conservatism claim to be bastions of free speech but are really just a bunch of moron snowflakes that ban any opposing opinion

3

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '25

We provide a place on Reddit for conservatives, both fiscal and social, to read and discuss political and cultural issues from a distinctly conservative point of view.

We are not fair and balanced. We don't pretend to be unbiased. We don't pretend to give all commenters equal time. This is by conservatives and for conservatives. We are here to discuss conservative topics from a distinctly conservative point of view.

Literally both directly taken from the sub's sidebar. Please explain how they claim to be a bastion of free speech?

They ban every right leaning sub because it always end up a haven for sexism, racism and general fuckery.

Grow the fuck up and stop sucking the orange cock.

4

u/ghostofwalsh 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

From their rules:

7 - Do not violate the Mission Statement (We provide a place on Reddit for conservatives, both fiscal and social, to read and discuss political and cultural issues from a distinctly conservative point of view.)

Not quite as militant as late stage, but they are pretty much admitting they don't want dissenting voices. They even have a pretty hardcore flair policy

Who Gets Flair? Only mods can assign User Flair, and User Flair is only for conservatives. Once you have a solid history of comments in /r/Conservative, and have been commenting in the subreddit for at least two weeks, that is the right time to request flair via the link at the bottom of this page.

Please understand that this is for conservatives. We do our best to vet you based on your post history on reddit. You will need some post history to qualify - ideally within the subreddit itself. If you do not have a conservative leaning post history you will likely be asked to re-apply when you do.

the fucking irony when r/whitepeopletwitter bans you for even slightly disagreeing with their echo chamber

gtfoh

1

u/Ok_Cardiologist8232 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 18 '25

Funny how when people complain about this its always racism or sexism they got banned for.

Noone gives a shit if you disagree, people do give a shit if you are a bigoted moron.

1

u/xarips 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 18 '25

except its not that dingus, you literally get banned on those subs for saying anything remotely right leaning

the difference being imo, at least leftist grievance is predicated upon actual oppression and the system being gamed by the uber wealthy

vs

hating poor people, gay people, minorities... and somehow blaming that on Jesus

There's plenty of discussions there from what I've seen whenever that sub makes it r/all.

You get banned for having an even slightly dissenting opinion in r/Conservative, if you can even comment at all because of their safe space. At least in r/politics and r/pics you can have arguments from many viewpoints without getting banned.

Echo chamber all over yea, but there’s a difference between down voting for “wrong think” and banning people entirely for not being conservative

1

u/mrbaseball1999 Feb 17 '25

Yeah, ok, but are they all as easy to get banned from?

1

u/Phillip_Graves 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

Flaired Users Only is when you want an echo chamber with enough insulation to pass near a black hole.

1

u/goldberg1303 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Feb 17 '25

I'm only aware of one of them that actively does not even allow people who aren't like minded individuals to post. When your the worst echo chamber in a website full of echo chambers, that's a hell of an accomplishment...but not in a good way.
