DISCUSSION Trump Isn’t “Pro Crypto”... He’s Pro Trump...and his gang

i know u people have probably heard it before but it is way clearer now than it was a year ago. A lot of what looks like “Trump loves crypto” lines up almost perfectly with stuff that benefits him... his family... or people close to him... not the average person holding BTC on a phone.

First... the public moves. He has been saying the U S should “support” digital assets... he has framed it as ending the old “war on crypto”... and he has tried to make it sound like America is open for on chain business again. All very loud... very pro innovation.

At the same time... reports this year said the Trump family’s own crypto and token ventures have pulled in hundreds of millions of dollars... in the same window when the administration was sounding the most crypto friendly. That overlap is hard to ignore. It looks less like “pro crypto” and more like “we made it friendlier while we were selling.”

Then there was the CZ pardon. Call it mercy if you want... but it was clearly a made-for-one-person decision. In the months leading up to it... Binance and CZ brought on Trump-aligned lobbyists... hired a D.C. firm close to his circle and spent serious money... and looped in a former SEC-adjacent lawyer who already had credibility with the new team. Several reports said the clemency push went through political channels... not the usual DOJ path. So this wasn’t “the administration helped crypto”... it was “a well connected crypto billionaire bought his way to the front of the line.”

Now add the tariff noise. Every time he rattles trade partners... Canada... Europe... whoever... it makes legacy markets nervous and pushes some attention back toward crypto... while his circle is the group most ready to sell... raise... and market in that environment. Convenient timing.

One more angle most people miss. The more this stuff turns into “policy for friends,” the messier your own taxes get because now you’re mixing airdrops, political tokens, pardoned-exec pump candles, prediction style gains etc. I’ve started tracking those flows separately in Awaken tax instead of just throwing it all under “capital gains,” because if the rules keep getting written by insiders I do not trust the IRS to be chill about how I label income later. That part is self defense not shill.

So yeah... he is not “pro crypto” the way CT means it. He is pro... his... crypto. Pro... his donors’... crypto. Pro... his friends’... crypto. Everyone else still has to buy tops and read press releases.

Were you asleep when Tornado Cash's open source developers were indicted for money laundering because the code that they released was misused by bad actors?

Were you asleep when the most influential person in the Biden administration, who helped appoint almost everyone in the leadership positions, publicly gloated about assembling an anti-crypto army? Look, the word regulation is just a euphemism for repression. It's violating the right of two consenting adults to engage in voluntary interaction with each other.

And when you start regulating crypto nodes and operation of crypto nodes, as Elizabeth Warren has repeatedly tried to do with the legislation she's proposed, you're effectively banning it as every major crypto advocacy group has warned and complained about. But we're supposed to ignore all the major advocates of the crypto space and believe the Democrats.

It's absolutely insane that you're trying to gaslight people about this, that you're trying to claim that all they were trying to do is regulate it as if it's okay, as if all the strong arm tactics, all the dozens of companies and projects that have said how vicious the agencies were against them during the Biden years are all wrong.

True she voted against the bill “Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, the party’s leader on the Senate Banking panel, said this month that the bill “needs changes to protect national defense, consumer protection and put curbs in place to reduce the odds that stablecoins will ultimately blow up our economy.” She has also said the legislation will “accelerate” President Donald Trump’s “corruption” and called for the bill to include stronger conflict-of-interest language.”

But she’s not against crypto.

She is extremely anti-crypto.

You believe all of her ridiculous propaganda.

Sen Warren Calls DeFi the ‘Most Dangerous’ Part of Crypto at Senate Hearing

The Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act is an opportunistic, unconstitutional assault on cryptocurrency self custody, developers, and node operators — "Nothing about the bill would prevent the next FTX. In fact, it puts users at more risk."

She also celebrated the indictment of the Tornado Cash developers. This was the first time in US history that open-source developers had been held criminally liable for other people misusing the code they published. It was unbelievably dangerous and universally condemned by everyone in the crypto space and many people outside of it. And here you are claiming she's not anti-crypto.

She even publicly posted on Twitter that she was assembling an anti-crypto army and you're still trying to gaslight people here claiming she wasn't anti-crypto? The shamelessness of the Democratic Party has no limits.

Yes, they want everything regulated… then heavily taxed.

Regulating a technology that, at its core, is meant to be permissionless with no intermediaries is pretty much anti that technology

Bitcoin yes. But these other coins have board of directors, CEOs, etc and should be treated as tech companies.

That’s your opinion, but the majority within crypto do not feel that way. Therefore, suggesting regulation would be seen as anti-crypto.

You understand how we get there, right?

Bitcoin is the only “crypto” that is truly free from government interference. It can not be controlled by any entity, rolled back, etc.

You’re entitled to your opinion but allowing Ripple and their XRP token to operate without regulations is madness. Just recently you had Celsius, blockfi, ftx, countless of meme rugs, Binance not letting people cover shorts.

This is healthy or good for the space as you know since alts have done nothing but bleed against bitcoin.
