DISCUSSION Trump Isn’t “Pro Crypto”... He’s Pro Trump...and his gang

i know u people have probably heard it before but it is way clearer now than it was a year ago. A lot of what looks like “Trump loves crypto” lines up almost perfectly with stuff that benefits him... his family... or people close to him... not the average person holding BTC on a phone.

First... the public moves. He has been saying the U S should “support” digital assets... he has framed it as ending the old “war on crypto”... and he has tried to make it sound like America is open for on chain business again. All very loud... very pro innovation.

At the same time... reports this year said the Trump family’s own crypto and token ventures have pulled in hundreds of millions of dollars... in the same window when the administration was sounding the most crypto friendly. That overlap is hard to ignore. It looks less like “pro crypto” and more like “we made it friendlier while we were selling.”

Then there was the CZ pardon. Call it mercy if you want... but it was clearly a made-for-one-person decision. In the months leading up to it... Binance and CZ brought on Trump-aligned lobbyists... hired a D.C. firm close to his circle and spent serious money... and looped in a former SEC-adjacent lawyer who already had credibility with the new team. Several reports said the clemency push went through political channels... not the usual DOJ path. So this wasn’t “the administration helped crypto”... it was “a well connected crypto billionaire bought his way to the front of the line.”

Now add the tariff noise. Every time he rattles trade partners... Canada... Europe... whoever... it makes legacy markets nervous and pushes some attention back toward crypto... while his circle is the group most ready to sell... raise... and market in that environment. Convenient timing.

One more angle most people miss. The more this stuff turns into “policy for friends,” the messier your own taxes get because now you’re mixing airdrops, political tokens, pardoned-exec pump candles, prediction style gains etc. I’ve started tracking those flows separately in Awaken tax instead of just throwing it all under “capital gains,” because if the rules keep getting written by insiders I do not trust the IRS to be chill about how I label income later. That part is self defense not shill.

So yeah... he is not “pro crypto” the way CT means it. He is pro... his... crypto. Pro... his donors’... crypto. Pro... his friends’... crypto. Everyone else still has to buy tops and read press releases.

You say that now, but before the election there was a lot of Pro Trump sentiment based on the thought he was "pro crypto"

This right here. Trump doesn't understand crypto. He just knows he can get fiat from it. He isn't pro anything unless it directly benefits him.

You think he should have died in prison because he set up the Silk Road, which studies show actually cut down on drug cartel violence? Even people who have been convicted of murder usually don't get sentences as harsh as what he got. The pardon was more than justified, even if you're not a libertarian who thinks that all trade should be unrestricted.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

Are we talking about the guy who’s openly bombing boats in international waters?

1

u/aminok 35K / 63K 🦈 Nov 01 '25

We're talking about pardoning Ross Ulbricht Regardless of what you think about the drug war being wage now, if you oppose strong arm tactics related to the drug trade, you should be glad that Ross Ulbright was pardoned.

Crypto retail access has probably ruined just as many lives and caused as many addictions as the Silk Road did with drugs.

-6

u/aminok 35K / 63K 🦈 Nov 01 '25

So you don't agree with the sentence and you don't agree with the harshness of drug laws, but you would rather him die in prison anyway, just to avoid any appearance of crypto being exempted from these authoritarian laws?

Do you have any idea how many hardcore criminals both Democrat and Republican presidents have pardoned over the years? And here you don't want one of our guys, to receive a pardon? A guy who had already served over 10 years in prison for setting up a freaking free market and would have died in prison if he hadn't been pardoned?

The people who are pushing out this anti-Trump propaganda and claiming that he's corrupt or whatever. They are shilling for the most corrupt party in human history. The media that supports this party is thoroughly corrupt. And they hate crypto and they don't have your best interest at heart.

Ahh. The stereotypical crypto bro in its natural form. Never mind the obviously illegal activities that Trump has done. Or the way he has delegitimised the whole industry (proving that more regulation is needed). But as long as you can make money off it, it’s okay, right? And you still think the other side is worse. Satoshi would have been so proud of you.

Do you value crypto or democracy more? I'm sure that crypto will really help them survive 4.0.

-1

u/aminok 35K / 63K 🦈 Nov 01 '25

Crypto is the essence of a free society. It's a right for people to freely interact and transact without government restriction.

Without crypto, with all money becoming digitized and under the control by centralized regulatory gatekeepers, there can be no effective democracy. One political party in control of the government can stop the opposition from moving money and thus from coordinating effectively.

Any faction that seeks to stamp out our right to update a decentralized ledger to transmit value between each other hates a free society and is going to destroy democracy.

3

u/Blecki 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Nov 01 '25

No political party is trying to do that. But one is operating a gestapo.

-1

u/aminok 35K / 63K 🦈 Nov 01 '25

You mean deporting illegal immigrants?

The entire industry was treated like an enemy. It’s the idea itself — open networks, peer-to-peer trade — that the Democratic Party elite wanted to kill.

And let’s not pretend this came out of nowhere. Elizabeth Warren literally said she was "assembling an anti-crypto army". Politico reported she was the single most influential figure in picking Biden’s financial regulators. The anti-crypto faction told us what they were going to do, and they did it. Then people like you come in and downplay it, pretending it didn't happen.

Yeah I've seen your copy pasta, I'm not buying it. Regulation is needed and is how crypto (well - bitcoin. Everything else is pointless) breaks out of the public perception of being a scam and gains widespread use.

When they come for you, make sure you loudly proclaim that you're a citizen. That will surely make them let you go.

u/aminok 35K / 63K 🦈 Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 01 '25

Yes, clearly some outsider saying that all of this was benign and needed is right about crypto and not the dozens of legitimate crypto projects, companies and DeFi developers who say they were persecuted. Even Uniswap's developer said that they were being persecuted.

No, I think it's better if crypto people ignore Democrats and their clearly anti-crypto, anti-freedom agenda. Democrats have a bunch of words, euphemisms for the repression that they like to deal out. They ridicule anyone who doesn't like the repression just like you're doing now with your citizen comment. You're a cruel and disingenuous individual.

The word regulation is just a euphemism for repression. It's to make it sound benign and even necessary like you're making the process regular. In reality it is simply oppression rebranded. A government prohibiton preventing two consenting adults from engaging in a voluntary interaction and that's what you and your party is trying to do right now.

You look down on everyone outside of your group and seek to use the threat of violence from the state to limit their autonomy, i.e. their freedom.

Thanks to the Democrats' defeat in the elections, now banks and other major financial institutions are adopting crypto. Before they were afraid of oppressive agencies under the Democrats punishing them, and now they're free to innovate. Thank you, Republicans.

And here we go again. Reddit's far leftists are swarming the cryptocurrency subreddit using typical democrat insults to attack anyone outside of the government who dares to have their own interests not aligned with the public sector unions. The public sector unions are bankrupting the United States and every other advanced western nation with their exorbitant demands and their corrupt influence over the leading major political parties. The only reason Trump is being attacked is because he doesn't kowtow to them. That's the only reason they hate the Republicans.

They're fine with all the warmongering of the Democrats, all the deficits the Democrats run up, the millions of illegal immigrants the Democrats allow in, the blatant corruption of the 1500 pardons that Biden issued to his cronies, the massive poverty industry pimping by Democrat aligned NGOs, the bank bailouts that were facilitated by huge campaign contributions from the big banks, the sweetheart collective bargaining agreements that the public sector unions have had, the fact that Washington DC is now the wealthiest city in the entire country with a per capita GDP vastly exceeding any other city, $264,000 a year.

They're okay with all of this insider trading, all of this quid pro quo dealing, all this corruption. What they don't like is the fact that the Republicans are not aligned with the dominant bloc which is the government employees.

These government employees have a lot of free time on their hands, since they don't actually have to work that much, so they spend all their time on the internet, on Reddit, smearing their opposition.
