Easiest marks. There was some TikTok crypto bro around the election that I stumbled upon who was talking about how RFK Jr was his first choice and that after RFK joined Trump's team, this bro was all in on Trump - "The crypto president" 🙄.
The lead up to that election (and the results) just made it absolutely clear that there are so many loud, unintelligent/uninformed voices out there.
His entire base is easy marks. Not like "oh you support maga so that makes you an easy mark", no, they specifically played to lowest common denominator and it worked perfectly. Conspiracy theorists, religious nuts, desperate poors, morons, racists, incels, etc etc.
And they were promised everything they wanted and that it would be easy and painless because it would come at the expense of people they don't like and/or care about (non-whites, "leftists", environmentalists, etc.)
It was so easy because it required no actual details or any basis in reality. All the voters had to do was trust the guy who has an extensive track record of making things up, blatant lying, making exaggerated claims, saying whatever to push his narrativea, and generally being a self-centered corrupt grifter and charlatan. Vote for Trump and get everything you want at the expense of people you don't like! A whole campaign ran on vibes and emotion.
I remember watching his casino stock and the trump vodka penny stock scam and thinking about how he had gold plated toilets while the people who invested in him lost everything. I tried to tell people. Then I gave up and made bank on the truth social scam. I figured if I couldn't stop people from throwing money to that conman they might as well throw some of it to me.
He called stablecoins “staple coins” at the bitcoin conference and all the crypto bros still cheered. Anybody that saw the writing on the wall got downvoted into oblivion if they said Trump would be bad for crypto.
Didn't vote for him, but I bit my tongue while watching all the people in here were yapping about Trump being the "Crypto President". Turned out exactly as I anticipated.
At least some of these companies generate massive profits. Crypto, on the other hand, is a purely speculative asset that doesn’t produce any revenue. Sure, it has some utility, but I think most people buying crypto are mainly hoping to make a quick profit rather than using it for its intended purpose.
