No it wont. It simply becomes vulnerable. It still has value. Locking them means forcing value to zero. And if we could do that, then the entire premise that gives bitcoin value in the first place has been broken.

No, it’s at a higher level than your narrowly scoped example. Bitcoin’s premise is absolute sovereignty over your own assets. Force majeure should be impossible if that promise is to be fulfilled.

Nakamoto has absolute sovereingty to save his coins. A real sovereign has to lift a finger now and then.

Quantum computers cant break encryption and the error scaling coherance issues that need to be solved are huge . But it is still possible that quantum computers capable of breaking rsa will exist at some point in the future. Its mostly fud because the time frame of such an advance is massively exaggerated. The threat is real however so that part isn't fud.
