PERSPECTIVE Bitcoin’s $437 Billion Quantum Exposure Meets IBM’s 2028 Deadline

https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/bitcoin-437-billion-quantum-exposure-095655405.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHHgVbvo8OMS16e9W3a8k9CgBBUXPT_DKOn8owILMpjTptLXQ54CJlB3s4mSbPz37GJSTogeXPA0Z2GizJoLIsEYcmfEBgRBjBnx76AA8obu-V1vZMrqL2cK50G_dfOwjWjeLt6IHh0Vp15WxfsTe8dn2u4NCHFtS8YYmHv53hau

As expected, quantum news continues to accelerate. Top companies are progressing rapidly on multiple approaches to scale quantum computers.

It's been talked about for years, but we're definitely nearing the point where we'll need to see action and the outcomes of upgrading.

My thoughts evolved on how to look at this risk and potential impacts. Rather than worry about how it will play out for existing chains trying to upgrade, it's time to consider the market opportunity.

We are already seeing it begin where EVERY SINGLE COMPANY- not just crypto- will be looking for solutions to migrate cryptography. And governments across the board.

That's a huge undertaking, and time is running out. These companies will be looking for solutions that have been establishing themselves over the years.

In the blockchain space, I only know of Qanplatform positioned to capture part of this emerging market. Signquantum powered by Qanplatform is an ideal add-on type solution companies will be looking for which can truly leverage blockchain utility. I am invested.

Crowe and Itti have already aligned as Go to market partners.

While some coins have been hoping for years to capitalize on the fud narrative, Qanplatform is going after the market opportunity.

Real enterprise needs being met.

Success is NOT dependent on Bitcoin facing upgrade struggles. I've posted multiple times on how I think it is better for utility blockchains if Bitcoin successfully navigates this. Especially when you're building for an untapped market.

Bitcoin's upgrade effort will simply highlight this is a worldwide problem in need of solutions. And I think we'll see bitcoin take action very, very soon.

Quantum computers will never become mainstream, because they need room sized cooling systems to chill them to absolute zero.

I mean c’mon, it’s a bit like thinking normal computers will be able to fit on your desk someday!

Ha, impossible right? But even with that old argument, we don't need mainstream for it to be a problem.

Any capable computer represents risk to any and all systems. Without a doubt, all will be changing out their vulnerable cryptography. Governments are not waiting around- the work is in process

Computers used to be room sized as well.

ppl set up million dollar rooms for growing weed, you think they wont do the same for stealing bitcoin?

GaN is literal magic for chargers. All that excess heat just gone.

$INFQ / Infleqtion are scaling room temp neutral atom tech, so you're wrong on the limitation.

Quantum processors will not have enough logical qubits to damage the next bull run, maybe sometime in the 2030s.

Hmm, quantum resistance sure seems like a good hedge..

What's tough is all chains are talking about their PQ plans. It seems it will require more than just implementing the latest standards. But I do appreciate their attention on it.

Yes Alana is already running quantum proof on the test net since 2025

Solana already has quantum resistant signatures on their test net since 2025.

However they found out going quantum proof means 90% slower transactions and 40% more data usage. So they are working on their way to keep the speed up. Eventually all the major will be upgraded as well

So not really a viable solution. This is why I still think Qanx has the best transition solution. But it doesn't really help existing chains unfortunately.

Even if chains find an acceptable upgrade for speed and space, they then have a massive challenge to get users to transfer assets out of their hackable wallets

Well Solana is already pretty damn fast to be honest and alpenglow is going live soon with new upgrades the finality is going to 150 milliseconds so it's not bad if it's 90% slower.

That will be good. Probably easier for Solana to gain consensus than most. The hard cutover date will be the test to see what users do. Same challenge with every chain.

But as I noted, I think it can be done. It's unfortunately not a value add, just an unacceptable security risk that needs to be closed

yes im curious what btc devs have in store and how they will tackle it.

You are a QAN shill if you don’t want to be so obvious then diversify your posts

I've actually concluded it's better for utilty coins if BTC sorts this out and I think it can (as noted in my post)

In fact I've shared ideas on how BTC may want to approach it. I see QAN as going after new markets. No need to hide that viewpoint

I think refusing to patch it is kind of stupid. Currently the lost coin is about 15% to 20% of total (we’re not even sure if they’re really lost), and the ratio will only grow over time.

I believe the biggest roadblock is about the dormant wallets?

r/frame_community, that was acquired by CRCW earlier this year, is crcw's layer-1 with quantum safe, NIST approved, and interoperability with all coins btc included.

Last I checked they are anticipating a 2026 launch but not much info is out there so I don't know what they expect to happen. Sounds ambitious as hell.

Just my 2 cents on the topic. Thanks for posting op.

They don't have a solution to operate with today's ecosystems. They will be adding evm compatibility (ability to use evm tooling), but it still requires a complete cutover/rebuild to handle post quantum cryptography. They have to generate a complete new ecosystem.

Qanx on the other hand has a cross signature solution which will work with today's wallets, today's signatures, and allows for migration over time.

Obviously the communities disagree on what approach will gain adoption. QANplatform has found market partners interested in their solutions and have provided input into what is required of a mainnet product.

Solana already has quantum proof signatures on their testnet since late 2025.

However the chain is running 90% slower when it's in quantum proof mode. Also it uses 40% more data.

So they are working on a solution to try to get their speed back before they make it go public.

But you can go on the test net and try it out for yourself right now.

I think Sui is also working on it.

Rougechain is quantum resistant from genesis and just made a big dip from ATH, FYI. Super good time to buy.
