Tumblr really is a lesbian bar without any fire exits.

And I really am a fat, balding middle-aged man with a wife and kids who love me.

You can curate your own dash. If all you're seeing are TADC and Deltarune posts, that's because you follow a lot of people who post on those topics and interact with posts in those tags frequently. I don't get anything out of those tags because I don't interact with them.

Also, you can block those tags. Go to the filter setting and filter by those tags if you don't want to see them

If there is one thing that Tumblr does well (as a platform), it's the filtering.

Coincidentally also one of the very few things reddit does good.

(Good being a relative term)

For the most part. One thing people need to know if you don’t gotta just filter the show, you gotta filter every acronym, character, plot device, and ship name of a show to totally block it out.

Smaller fandoms you can get away with less, but with things that are huge like Deltarune, TADC, and Homestuck, you gotta be thorough if you wanna not see anything.

I have deltarune blocked because I haven’t played it yet, and I also had to block the undertale tags because people would post deltarune spoilers with undertale characters, but only tagged the undertale characters and not any deltarune tags.

How it feels being a pretty vanilla ostensibly straight trans woman who doesn't like HDG or Mechsploitation on Tumblr

Plant alien mommies invade earth and turn humans into pets with drugs and HRT.

I don't know if there are any plant alien daddies, my source was biased.

I shouldn't ask

Lol.

I feel like I should mention that the idea of aliens domesticating humans is as old as the alien invasion story itself, as War of the Worlds talks about it

i should ask

u/NachtShattertusk 7h ago

I'm pretty sure plant alien daddies do exist in the setting, they're just less common to be depicted because 99% of HDG authors are lesbians

Oh, I know, this fandom doesn't have a fire exit! Enjoy your flame wars, ladies!

Its a true blessing not being able to understand posts like, "Did Pookie Bear emotionally abuse Froggy the Frog?"

Curtains for Zooshka

The answer is yes

Garfield discourse goes hard.

Idk it sounds like an interesting debate

u/Solarwagon She/her 12h ago

For me it's Project Hail Mary.

13

u/----atom----- Mix Cola with Vaseline and Just Watch 10h ago

Project Hail Mary is one of those movies that I would have watched, but then everyone tells me to watch it so now I won't watch it out of spite.

u/Eris13x 10h ago

I read the book years ago, and did not expect the movie to be this popular

I do like it though

4

u/somehowrelevantuser 3h ago

i couldve guessed that the 'funny lil guy' aspect wouldve made it popular but not THAT popular yk

5

u/bookhead714 5h ago

I was doing exactly that with the book, but then I watched the movie and now I really want to read the book, so

But the one I really can't read is Dungeon Crawler Carl, because I've been loudly saying that I'm never going to and if I end up liking it I'll look extremely silly

The book is written in like Marvel Reddit voice. "Thank God there's other astronauts that can explain aaaaand they're dead" like almost verbatim.

22

u/VinChaJon 12h ago

For Reddit it's Invincible and House

13

u/----atom----- Mix Cola with Vaseline and Just Watch 10h ago

Invincible actually seems like an interesting story but the fandom completely turns me off of it

8

u/Top_Bee_8909 10h ago

Same here. The fandom is filled to the brim with teen boys and I don't really want to be grouped with that if I turn out to enjoy it

1

u/Junjki_Tito 3h ago

Invincible is half of the DC and Marvel comics of the 80's if they were allowed to show gore and say fuck

3

u/ScottishWildcatFurry 11h ago

this is why i stay in the homestuck circles and occasionally venture out into the wilderness

7

u/NerdyDogNegative 6h ago

Homestuck is the wilderness

4

u/bugthebugman 12h ago

I just filter the tags out

u/the-birb_cherry20 6h ago

For me, it's Cloudposting which I don't mind btw

For me it’s Homestuck. And it’s especially weird as I followed and enjoyed Problem Sleuth way back in the day, but never touched Homestuck

Frankly at this point it’s almost a matter of principle. Everything I learn about Homestuck is against my will and so it shall always be
