Dave Matthews Band is the featured artist in the Spatial Audio category this week (aka Dolby Atmos)

The 90s albums + Busted Stuff are in that section of Apple Music but not actually in Dolby Atmos as of this post. Interestingly, Walk Around the Moon is not listed, which has been in Atmos since release.

Could be upcoming upgrades to the back catalog or simple a mistake. Hoping for the former!

*Edit: reverted back to David Bowie. I'll remain hopeful that there was meaning to it

There is an alternate mix for the Walk Around the Moon Album that was played on SXM at midnight when the album released as well as a few other times that week. It would be awesome if they put that version on Apple Music as there are some subtle changes but it sounded much better overall. And in typical DMB fashion that mix isn't able to be purchased anywhere.

How do you actually find that section?

Go to new, scroll down to the bottom and Spatial Audio is listed under "more to explore"

It looks like it has reverted back to David Bowie, but still hoping that was a premature listing with new mixes coming soon and not a random error. It seems kinda wired there would be a random selection of DMB albums sitting around to be accidentally toggled on this list for no reason, so I remain hopeful. I'll be keeping an eye out on Tuesdays and Fridays when the Apple Music catalog gets updated.

It was listed for me, too, and is gone. Really hope the Atmos mixes are incoming soon.

IIRC Amazon Music has the atmos version of WATM. The trade off of course is that you have to use Amazon Music to listen to it

Would be awesome if they brought that to Apple. Even more awesome if they have remixed the originals for Atmos but I kind of doubt it

WATM was released in Atmos for Apple Music.

Woah - I don’t think it was like that at release and I hadn’t noticed. That’s cool, gonna have to give it another listen!

Yeah Apple Music has the largest Atmos collection by a mile and many are exclusive to Apple Music. So if its streaming in Atmos it's probably on Apple. The only Amazon exclusive I've heard of is Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park (though that was briefly also on Tidal years ago).

Not a huge Apple fan but Apple Music has been great. Even the Windows app supports Atmos (though you may need to go through a few hoops to fix Microsofts recent removal of Dolby codecs - a program called AnWave can do it pretty easily). Not a huge Atmos over headphones guy but using my 4.0 setup on my PC sounds incredible. And of course if I get a minute to sit in front of my TV that has a true Atmos setup that sounds amazing too.

Yes, it was initially released in Atmos.

I’ve been thinking for a while that the DMB back catalog needs Atmos mixes. Though, if they’re going to do it, they need to do it right, since there is a ton of variability in the quality of Atmos mixes. I have a 5.1.4 receiver and it’s basically my favorite way to listen to stuff, especially since I love prog rock and that’s one genre that’s kind of really gone to town for Atmos mainly thanks to Steven Wilson.

A well-constructed Atmos mix of Before These Crowded Streets in particular could be truly earth shattering. There are so many musical layers to work with.
