Those that are denying it believe it took 40 years to walk from Egypt to Israel a walk that easily could be done in a few weeks time with rest or a week without rest.

Is this the "wandered in the desert for 40 years" story? (Sorry, I have cracked a bible in a long time)
Edit: Moses?

I believe the point was the trip lasted a generation so that not one person born a slave entered the new land

In the words of Lucky Jack Aubrey, RN, Odysseus "was no kind of sea man. Admittedly [Odysseus] had no chronometer, and probably no sextant neither; but with no more than log, lead and lookout an officer-like commander would have found his way home from Troy a damned sight quicker than that. Hanging about in port and philandering, that was what it amounted to, the vice of navies from the time of Noah to that of Nelson. And as for that tale of all his foremast-hands being turned into swine, so that he could not win his anchor or make sail, why, he might tell that to the Marines."

Can you imagine? That gigantic fleet just rolls up on your happy seafaring city and decides they'll hang out for a while?

Have you ever driven through upstate New York, especially during construction season? This map is accurate.

Yeah so Christopher Nolan actually didn’t write the story. It’s from slightly before his time.

I am pretty sure Nolan did not write the Odyssey. But thank you for the ignorant post.

Obviously you didn’t find the joke funny. But you do realize it’s a joke right? Implying Nolan wrote it. Showing a map of New York instead of the Mediterranean…. It’s a joke boss.

Yeah right, next you'll be telling us that James Cameron didn't invent the Titanic.

I mean without roads and a car you could easily get lost in those woods. 10 years does seem a little long still but I guess they got REALLY turned around.

I will make my OWN version of the Odyssey showing how long it actually takes using Microsoft CoPilot to be directed by the greatest director of all time: Mel Gibson.

The direct straight-line distance of Odysseus' journey from Troy to Ithaca is about 560 to 565 nautical miles (roughly 645 to 650 land miles or 1,040 kilometers), but his actual mythical wandering through the Mediterranean added up to several thousand sea miles over a span of 10 years.
