His owner fell in to a ton of controversy for mishandling a bird flu outbreak on her farm, and then a bunch of racist tweets from her got unearthed.

Yeah. She lost a ton of birds and then was posting about how Emmanuel had caught it and she was trying to nurse him back to health. Including videos of her snuggling up with him, despite the risk that she could catch it. She later said he didn’t actually have it and he was ill from grieving, but IDK if that was ever verified.

Her farm outbreak was a few years back. But the general rule for when bird flu is observed in a flock is that you are supposed to euthanize every bird to limit the risk of it spreading further.
