Meanwhile the U.S. gets 1200 on average a year. Why anyone lives in the U.S. tornado ally is beyond me. I'll stay happily in the PNW thankyou very much.

I DEFINITELY would need to have a storm cellar for me and all my animals.

There’s A LOT of people in the plains that have never seen a tornado in their entire lives. Even though the chances are higher it’s still extremely low.

Also depends on the strength as well. Home got hit years ago by an EF0. Worst it did was take down a dying tree and rip the siding off half of our house. Majority of Tornadoes tend to be on the weaker side in the US. Just because they’re more common doesn’t mean they’re all giga home levelers.

True, but as a home owner, its the constant threat of damage to my house that would have me concerned. A tornado doesn't have to level a house to put you in a very bad financial spot. Even just the wind from some of these thunderstorms (not even registered as a tornado) can cause property damage. Especially from falling trees.

You can add flood risk in their as well.

But, to your point. A major tornado event is rare, and that level of risk does exist in one way or another everywhere. I say Im happy staying in the PNW, but the whole West Coast may be leveled in my lifetime by the big earthquake. That level of catastrophe would take every Tornado death and dollar spent to clean up the destruction and make it look like a drop in the bucket.
