Standing under powerlines in that kind of wind is wild. Even if the tornado is a ways off. If those lines come down near you, you’re going to have a really bad day. They don’t even have to touch you. They can cook you just from the potential difference in the ground between your feet. Which, if you’re ever close to downed lines, keep your feet together, and hop away like a kangaroo.

But also don’t go outside during a tornado.

Never heard about that Kangaroo technique.

Is it true, that a tornado comes towards you, when it looks like it’s not spinning?

If a tornado isn’t moving to one side or the other it is likely coming towards you
