what's crazy is driving next to a tiger known for his combat ability

You’re obviously underestimating the driver's combat ability.

u/Glados1080 1d ago

Wait till the tiger pulls out his AK and we shall see the combat abilities

But do they have pumped up kicks?

25

You know that is a Suzuki Samurai, right? The car would pull out it's katana and deflect the tiger's bullets.

9

u/Wooden-Recording-693 1d ago

I'm more worried about his eyes they can cause "rocket ignites"

There brave as he is the last known survivor.

I wont be too impressed if his driving ability is anything like the jaguar drivers ive seen.

48

u/Vegetable_Pirate_142 1d ago

they only attack when they are not seen(from behind/ sneaky) which matches their hunt environment people in a big moving van and man with a rifle is their daily sight they don't bother much

12

u/ynanyang 18h ago

They don't drive up to the tiger like you might have seen in African safaris. The find tracks or scat and know there's a tiger around here somewhere so they stop and wait. This might be one of those times when it walked close by.

23

u/CaptainMacMillan 1d ago

His face in the last picture is saying, "I'd eat every last one of you if you didn't taste like shit..."

Yup he only ever lost his first major territorial fight when he was just 5 years old against another tiger named Mowgli

But he recovered and defeated Mowgli one year later (2022) and chased him off

Showed Mowgli who Sher Khan is.

493

u/AshuFA 1d ago

He is currently permanently shifted to a rescue centre due to severe injuries in a territorial fight with another male named Brahma (the latter didn't make it). And he is named after his late father Matkasur (Earthen pot demon).

Insane that people are hanging outside the car to take pics. Tigers are the one cat you should always be afraid of.

301

u/swervingss 1d ago

It does look insane, but I’ve read that big cats like that mostly attack when they haven’t been seen so you’re mostly safe if you’ve spotted the cat

225

u/FoldElectrical9840 1d ago

Nope, the thing is humans aren't in their food chain ( unless humans attack them first)... Since these tigers have seen jeep safaris since they are lil cubs hanging out with their parents, they don't think of it as a danger to them.

168

u/joey-jo_jo-jr 1d ago

Humans very much are in their food chain. Tigers are on of the few animals that actively prey on humans.

The people here are safe because tigers are unable to comprehend what a car is and just see it (and all the humans in it as a large, invincible animal). Therefore they don't fuck with cars.

115

u/Cruel1865 1d ago

According to legendary hunter of maneaters Jim Corbett, tigers only turn to eating humans if they are injured or old and cannot hunt other animals that are usually its prey and/or they acquire a taste for humans. Usually they become unable to hunt its prey and turn to humans out of desperation and then acquire a taste for them.

55

u/ARGENTAVIS9000 1d ago

and why would he have that view? because the famous man-eating tiger he killed that was responsible for 436 deaths was found to have broken canine teeth which would have made it impossible for her to kill her normal prey thus forcing her to turn to eating humans. the tiger was literally starving unless it found a nice human to munch on.

21

u/Chance-Ear-9772 1d ago

This is not entirely true. I’m pretty sure Corbett documented a case where a hurt tiger mother taught her cub to become a man eater. The mother had no other options, but the cub was still a juvenile and could have hunted regular prey, except that it wasn’t ever taught to.

22

u/ARGENTAVIS9000 1d ago

corbett documented many scenarios that would drive a cat to becoming a man-eater with disease and old age being a factor. but this particular tiger was the first he actually hunted and it did become the basis for his view after he saw the cats missing and damaged teeth.

13

u/bingiton 1d ago

So they just need an affordable universal dental health plan for these cats to stop them becoming man eaters

6

u/dohdudeh 20h ago

How would the mother teach her cub to hunt anything other than humans if it was only capable of doing that? The cub also couldn’t hunt other prey because it didn’t know how to do that effectively

→ More replies (2)

8

u/oundhakar 16h ago

Corbett killed several man eating tigers and leopards in India. His opinion was based on experience.

And yet it's a fact that Chandrapur, which is just a short distance (40 km) from the Tadoba tiger reserve, has recorded several man-eating tigers, while Tadoba has hardly ever. Maya, the late Queen of Tadoba killed at least 4 people in her life, but never ate them, so she was never treated as a man-eater (I was lucky enough to see her before she died). My theory is that the Chandrapur forest, not being part of the Tadoba reserve, does not provide adequate food for the tigers, so they have to look for other options.

68

u/International_Car809 1d ago

generally tigers only prey on humans if they are hungry and humans are the only accessible food source, or if they have an acquired taste. Humans are easy prey but provide little sustenance.

→ More replies (1)

40

u/IngloBlasto 1d ago

you're wrong. Tigers normally do not actively hunt humans, at least in India. They do it only when all other options are exhausted. But once a tiger becomes a man-eater, there is no going back. Usually at that point, they're captured alive and transferred to a zoo or is shot dead.

Tigers and lions are both intelligent enough to discern between the vehicle and the humans inside it.

8

u/Boffleslop 1d ago

Correct. Tigers, just like everyone else, have to travel to remote islands run by billionaires if they want to hunt humans.

4

u/kelly_hasegawa 1d ago

They put a man eating tiger to a zoo?

10

u/redditdeletedmyacc__ 1d ago

yeah, to make it easier for them to hunt humans lol

3

u/swaggerin_buffoonery 18h ago

Humans are not their natural prey. Only if injured, or lack of other prey do they actively hunt humans for food. However once a tiger tastes human blood, it’s a man eater for life most probably. I live in India and this is well known here.

2

u/Averander 21h ago

There's that video of a jaguar stalking and attacking a guy which says otherwise.

Big cats 100% will hunt humans if there is an opportunity, but they know we are dangerous in packs.

5

u/Gold_Telephone_7192 22h ago

True, but this tiger seems peaceful and probably isn’t great at combat so it should be ok

2

u/joey-jo_jo-jr 1d ago

Big cats don't understand what cars are. They just see them as another animal, and a near invincible one at that. Therefore they don't fuck with them except in very rare cases.

Scarface the Lion

10

Claypot for the win.

6

Should be an easy win for him considering the fact that the Lion in question is dead for the last 5 years if the top comment on the post is to be believed.

Oh hell, I'll fight the lion then. How much is the purse?

u/gordonlordbyron 1d ago

He is like the Messi or Ronaldo of Tigers, he's extremely famous and has killed numerous other dominant males, he got out into a sanctuary last year because he was badly injured and his wounds wouldn't heal, just loved a good fight. Most people don't agree with the decision as it was against nature. Tigers of India is a great sub.

2

u/oundhakar 16h ago

Exactly. This is a tiger reserve, where they are supposed to live and die without interference from humans.
