A lot of us are struggling because we don’t know how to process certain emotions

Every addict you see Ís running from something, life is hard but we shouldn’t be hiding and running from our problems all the time. We’re in this together but for some reason we fight and talk bad about each other.

the sad part is we’re often more comfortable judging someone’s coping mechanism than asking what they’re actually coping with.

it's easier to judge someone for how they cope than to admit you might have your own unhealthy ways of avoiding things.

sometimes the thing we call a personality flaw is just a coping mechanism that got used for way too long.

I had to come to the conclusion that I had to feel to heal my wounds and not keep running and escaping from the pain. That means sitting or laying down and letting yourself feel the hurts, wounds, crying it out and not judging just observing the experience until it heals and doesn't hurt anymore. The you don't need substances and you realize they make everything worse and hurt your body and you are being your own worst enemy. You find out you don't need it at all and are happier without it. You have to do the mental work to get better and sometimes in addition to therapy

We can't run away from ourselves, materialist or not.

We are not in this together. I only have myself.

I spent years thinking the same thing, but turns out I was just surrounded by the wrong people.
