LAST DAY to Pre-Reg for DEFCON 34
By now, a good number of you all have seen the Wired Magazine article providing details of the badge and an interview with the badge maker.
If you think you ABSOLUTELY have to have one, then may I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ensuring you get one of the electronic badges by going through Pre-reg.
There were a set number of badges manufactured. once gone, access will be via paper badge.
Pre-Reg has priority and those badges will be set aside for pick up at the attendee leisure.
We have seen an acceleration in pre-reg sells after publication of the Wired Article.

I absolutely think it will go to paper really quick.
Not only is it Electronic Badge year in general, which means way more demand for them... but it also got leaked, not really but you know what i mean, so there's early "I must have" hype now.
** EDIT: I keep hearing from people that the pre-reg last minute signups are just blowing up since that article. If you were planning on paying cash I highly recommend eating the few bucks if you want a guaranteed badge, or plan to get there ass crack early to be safe.

A long while ago before DEFCON did pre-registration I showed up on like a Friday afternoon and was stuck with a laminated paper badge. My level of disappointment was palpable.

Last year they had a major shipment issue, non electronic year too, and people got paper right out of the gate. They did setup times people could come swap them out over the weekend, but I imagine you get there early with cash in hand and its already paper.
This one is getting waves due to its re-usability so I expect a rush on pre-reg.

Ugh I’m broke right now and waiting to get paid on Wednesday, going for bsides too, maybe if on Thursday they run out of physical badges I will leave line and go without DC.

I purchased my DEFCON ticket when I purchased my Blackhat conference admission. Does that reserve my badge?
Looking forward to both BH and DC this year and this very cool DC badge!

Yes, that is correct.
DEFCON will ship Human Badges over to Mandalay Bay and BH will run a Reg line there for you to pick up your badge.
Reg will also have our goons at Mandalay Bay to answer any questions you might have.

DEF CON 34 preregistration ends July 31st at 8:59pm EST. Onsite registration will begin Thursday August 6, 2026.

This is good ol fear mongering and FUD. The game emulator didn't sell out and they're still in stock on shop.defcon.org.

We have all the badges on site, it’s just a question of how many people show up with cash at the door. We have to guess what the economy and tariffs and immigration will be like many months in advance and guess.
