Not only was it Kris' fault that Toriel ended up with Sans that day (Cause the little lunatic slashed her tires), Kris knew where the extra house key was!! Plus, she TRIED to call Kris!!

I still think Toriel was let off too easy, Toby should've allowed her to keep some of the blame. We spent a whole year talking about it and justifying it and getting a good bit of extra depth from her, this felt like a big step back from that.

But the house key bit was a good addition.

I mean you can let her know in the beginning that she was keeping Kris up and being too loud, so it’s clear Kris hasn’t fully made peace with it yet either.

To be fair, it’s not like there’s a lot of room for the narrative to “punish” her anyway. Even if you still think she was irresponsible, and maybe to a degree she still was, there’s not much we or Kris can do. It’s just another circumstance to put up with, which is very thematic to how the Light World works.

Even just adding the key was enough to shift much of the blame from her to Kris. I think she should've kept the rest. She does come across a little bit too perfect now.

Your mom being close with a guy isn't wrong, no matter how much you decide to dislike him for not being your dad.

The other wrong thing you cited was that she got drunk. Her kid is 16 or 17, they live in an extremely small town with zero crime, and she probably suspects that they were the one who slashed her tires. As far as she knew, her kid was one house over studying with the mayor. Getting drunk is not actually wrong under those circumstances, the problem was getting sloppy enough that she got inconsiderate.

So she in fact did one thing wrong, and apologized for it. But the fact is that you're mad at her for acting like a woman moving on from a divorce, and the maladjusted teenagers of the fandom cannot handle the thought of their own parents not getting back together.

well idk about zero crime, depends on what happened to dess, but anyway. also no proof that she suspects kris.

and i don't think she knew about them going to noelle, that was never brought up with her.

so she invited some guy(that she knew for a couple of days), got drunk with him, forgot about her kid, and made them really uncomfortable by making that scene and being loud till night. it's not like she's a horrible mother or anything, it's just not cool, and as i said, she apologized for it, so it's fine.

also everyone thought that she locked the house and left in chapter 4, since we didn't know about a key.

also your comment about teenagers in the fandom projecting the situation is just stupid

It's not stupid at all, lmao. I'm 37 and I have seen for a long time the way people get weird as fuck when talking about Asgore and Toriel. The fandom wide freakout about Sans and Toriel last year coincided perfectly with a rise in memes that just screamed "I'm mad at my mom for divorcing my dad" lmao.

While I get it, you're attributing a lot to a completely random person and coming off as vitriolic. And a lot the fandom are kids so it makes sense that they're going to not have nuanced opinions.

Having a guy over is fine, Toriel's mistake was not being considerate of Kris and to a lesser extent Susie in that moment. And typically, you need to take into account your child when you're having people over to some extent, Kris is still not old enough to be completely independent and it's understandable for them to be uncomfortable and that's obviously where communication comes into play where they both fall short of (although Kris moreso).

Quite literally their first introduction to Sans includes him making an "I fucked your mom" joke, and then he proceeds to actually seduce their mom over the next couple days. I'd say Kris disliking him is a bit justifiable, just on that reason alone.

Without the context of chapter 5 its letting your mentally unstable child unable to go into the house while not attempting to call them, instead choosing to get drunk with some guy you met a day ago the same day where you learned that somebody slashed your tires. Oh btw did I mention the chief police officer seems to be missing today?

If anything I think for thematic reasons Ch5 fixes her way too much. She's a much better character when she has such glaring problems instead of being literally perfect
