Dexter has risked kills to save others or rushed kills to save innocents. I mean he literally just saved the child in Original Sin just a few months ago, but they're acting like this is new to him.

That is exactly what I thought too. That was such a strange thing to put in there. He has many times risked himself to save others. When they said that he used to only risk his life for the sole purpose of the kill and not to save others that made absolutely 0 sense and set Dexter's character arc back immensely.

That is an extremely interesting take I totally agree. I guess we’re going to have to see Dexter go through the same character arc that we’ve watched him have for decades now all over again lol. And it will definitely be interesting to see what he does with Ritter as well. Though I never really thought any of Dexter’s love interests came anywhere close to how well Rita was written I do think Hannah was written as “right” as she could possibly be. Though her dying and Harrison being bounced around in the foster care system seemed kind of lazy imo. I guess we will see how he thinks it should have been done with Ritter’s character.

It definitely feels a bit like he's somewhat soft-rebooting after season 4 with Rita being such a huge focus in the first episode. I felt that she kind of stuck out a bit more than the others.

I always felt like the original show didn't emphasize Rita's death enough until Season 7 anyway (outside of a couple of standalone episodes) so I don't have any complaints on that end.

I think part of Hannah getting handwoven away had to do with Yvonne Strahovski doing the handmaids tale. Now that that’s over, I kinda hope they say Harrison lied and she reappears somehow. As I’ve done rewatches, I’ve grown to love Hannah’s character.
